It was finally nice enough this weekend, I completed my yard work and I managed to get the Mustang out of the garage so I could get my '03 Lowrider out. Pushed it out and changed the oil. Hit the starter and just a few clicks. Was disappointed because I had one of those trickle chargers on it all winter. So, I took out my regular battery charger and hooked it up over night to charge. Checked it this morning and still don't have a full charge. I'm guessing the battery is toast.
So, the question is this, where do you folks usually get your motorcycle batteries? I would like to try to avoid the stealership if at all possible. Any brand of battery better than others? Thanks. Dave |

I went with a Westco AGM battery last time. It's only about 2.5 years old now but I've had no problems with it.
Check your battery cables before you buy a new one. I was on a trip in Upper Michigan last summer and went to start the bike one morning and nothing. I felt the cables and they were tight so I just jumped it from by buddies bike and went on. I had to jump it every time I shut it off all day and when we got to the rally I bought a new battery. My bike has a 90 degree adapter on the positive terminal so the cables will line up. When I was moving this adapter to the new battery I noticed a little corrosion on it. Just for fun I cleaned it off and put the old battery back in and it's been fine ever since. The corrosion wasn't between the cable and adapter, it was between the adapter and the battery and I couldn't see it until I had it all apart. |

Well, I left the battery on a 2A charge while I went to work today. Got home and tried it, nothing but clicks. Took the battery out and inspected the cables/terminals. No corrosion. Both cables were tight when I removed them. I guess I'll be getting a new battery tomorrow. Thanks for the reply k12lts! |
