| I just watched Battle for Haditha on Netflix. I assumed that the slant would be that this is just another My Lai incident. I was wrong. I know nothing about who made this film or what their motives were. But after watching the film I conclude that the film makers were on the side of the Marines. They introduced plenty of human sadness throughout the story but I detected no indictment of our Marines and the actions that they took. It is a heart rending story, a very sad tale, but I detected no real blame for what the Marines did: Fog of war and all that. |

I feel as though when individuals are operating in a war zone, civilian laws SHOULD NOT BE APPLICABLE to the FULL EXTENT. If I had just come under attack and i caught the guys who did it but do to b.s. i was told to let them go, I dont see myself letting them go. not because i am blood thirsty but because I have been molded and primed and given a specific motivation for continuing to fight despite many odds, is to FIGHT FOR THE MAN ON EITHER SIDE OF ME, and to have that foundation attacked, what would you expect the odds to be? My main point is give that our troops are not to be crucified. Respect to all whom have served!!!

I liked the movie. Saw it in Iraq and could understand. Not about being blood thirsty but that everyone is human and we commit human mistakes.
By the way, the main actor who plays the squad leader, is an actual Marine who was wounded in Iraq by an IED I believe before taking the role. At the time of the film release his brother was going through boot camp too. |
