What are the visual indications of beef that is starting to turn bad? The tag on this steak says "Sell by NOV28" but I have my doubts if its good. What does spoiled meat smell like?

Usually only if it smells funny.

IT will turn kind of brown after a couple of days, and thats okay,

but the weirdest thing is that beef and meats should be left open to breathe unlike produce which you should seal up.

It'll be fine, E-coli never hurt anyone ...... too bad.

Steaks will turn dark and hamburger turns a greyish color when they're a little long in the tooth.

It will get dark and start to get a strong odor. This doesn't mean you can't eat it, it means you have to eat it soon. When it starts to stink, not just smell but stink bad, get rid of it. (I know, kinda obvious) I've cooked beef with a strong odor before as a bachelor and i just  cooked it real good. Remember to always rinse your meat off with cold water before preperation.

Well it was a bunch of thin sliced steak in the store container. It kind of smells like corn. The slices are still red around the edges but greyish in the middle. Either way I cooked some up and ate it so Ill keep you posted lol.
