I have no idea what type of beetle this is, but I was about to pick up
some brass (that's been out in the yard for about a week) and spotted this
beetle that looked like it was backing into a .45acp shell. Did it just
happen to be there, or was it about to lay eggs or something? I can't think of any other reason it would back up to shell like that. I know it doesn't really matter, but I'm curious.

Thanks, but I'm not curious enough to join another site. I guess it shall remain one of life's mysteries.
