Did not see thread unless I missed it but any crossfit people want to help me put together a starter workout? I need to up the anty and need a challenge other than my typical routine.

my manager at work is getting into it so I might ask him if he has a routine as well to get started with.

Any chance of getting in to an affiliate to at least get started and moving in the right direction?

Where are you in IL?

My gym has trainers who do this but I can't afford the 100 dollars for five sessions right now. I had five free ones that laid a good foundation. I'm in Granite City, outside of STL.

Learn the mechanics and repeat them until you have it done, then move onto adding intensity.  $100 may seem steep now, but it is worth it to learn the lifts correctly from the get go.  You can really injure yourself if not done properly.

True that, I found a simple core workout on pintrest that will get me started.

I know how to do the squat thrusters, the lunges, box jumps, assorted mix and match but no set workout you know. I want my gut gone because I look funny. My upper body and back is built but my core is just there.

If you're going to do xfit you really need to have someone teach you proper Olympic lifting technique. It is the core component to any crossfit routine.

Understand that doing crossfit will transform your entire physique. You may lose some topside mass in leiu of evening out strength through your entire body. And the "gut" will only go away through diet. If you cannot maintain a disciplined nutrition plan you won't lose the fat.

I was a big bench as often as possible guy before doing crossfit. The large shoulders are actually a hindrance because they severely limit mobility. Make sure you spend a lot of time stretching and focusing on proper form especially on overhead lifts.

Oh yea, my first crossfit workout was Helen. The crossfit website has all of the workouts listed with descriptions and definitions. They also post their own WOD's on there you could work off of.

It would behoove you to complete a round of Starting Strength before beginning Crossfit.

As always, IMHO, YMMV, etc.

Yep, I agree with the previous replies. You should practice and build up your bar skills, whether through an onramp/foundations class or starting strength first before starting to work out on your own. Form>Intensity>Load are the most important parts
