I did some heavy Google searching for reviews of bench sanders and found only a warning not to buy the under powered and faultily designed Delta unit with 4 inch belt and 6 inch disk. I have a DeWalt portable belt sander, a Porter cable orbital, and several low end vibrating palm sanders, but a bench-top unit in the shop would be handy. I'd like a unit that could quickly smooth endgrain, and if need be, remove small to moderate amounts of material using a belt, without spending much more than $100 to $150. Since the Delta is reviewed as being "underpowered" at 1/3 horsepower, it looks like I need half a horse or more. A dust collection port is a must. What do you use? What are its pros and cons? How much did you spend? Would you buy another one? |
