Ok, no 'get a (whatever)' advise... I like my Beretta, I don't like the Glock/XD/etc hammerless design, and besides I'll be needing familiarity with the 92FS in the near future... I have a 92FS. Up to this point it has been 100% reliable, but at the range today I encountered an issue. I pull the trigger, and the gun does not fire. The hammer stays in place (either cocked or de-cocked, wherever it was), and the trigger just moves freely. I have determined the cause to be a problem with the trigger-bar, specifically the back end that releases the hammer is dropping down, instead of staying up and engaging the firing mechanisim. Any ideas what caused this? Is it common? Am I missing a spring, or is something assembled wrong? Any help appreciated... |

In all likelihood, your trigger spring broke. I had it happen twice on the Berettas Ive own. Its a an easy fix once you get the replacement if you have any skill at taking guns apart. Wolff makes a conversion spring that ends the problem that is also easy to install. Border Patrol/INS installed them in their Berettas after having the same breakage problem. Sounds like a problem with a broken or dislocated trigger bar spring? Part #26 http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=1150z92FS The upper portion of it rides in a very narrow slot in the trigger bar and raises it so that the bar engages the sear. Otherwise, the trigger bar will drop down and result in the condition you describe. If that is the cause, it's a simple fix. Just one more reason to have a few extra spring packs on hand. |
