Going on vacation. Need something for the car. Several good firearms podcasts I can feed into my trucks system- IF I can load them on my phone.

I've had good luck with Podcast Addict.

Ditto.  Podcasts are all I listen to on my commute, bluetoothed from the phone to car speakers, and I'm happy with Podcast Addict.

Two versions. Free and not free. Any real difference? It's only $3 though I think....

I use the free version.  The phone will be sitting there, not looked at, who cares if there's a banner ad.  There may be additional functionality in the paid app, I don't know, but whatever it is, I have lived without it just fine for about a year.

I have downloaded Fourteen episodes from the Survival Podcast, Precision Rifle Podcast, Practically Tactical and Ballistic Radio!

Now if my fucking Ford Sync System will play them....

I've used Podcast Addict and Stitcher on Android.  One thing that annoyed me about Stitcher was when I tried to switch from an Android device to an iPad - Stitcher didn't do a good job of syncing progress.  I usually listen to my iPad when I'm getting ready in the morning and then my phone when I'm in the car on the way to work.  The fact that progress sync didn't work was a major annoyance.

I have a Ford Escape.  Connecting via bluetooth is sometimes problematic, I'll need to connect several times now and then before it catches.  And for some reason, if my wife's phone is within range, it will detect that and never acknowledge mine.  Not much of an issue though, since I only listen to podcasts when I'm alone in the car.

I use BeyondPod.   I paid for the full version.
