I can't say enough about www.agonist.org.  Everyone should check it out.

Look at the Situation Map- very nice piece and updated 4 times a day usually.

I don't even bother with CNN, MSNBC or Fox anymore.

My vote goes to www.reuters.com though. Check their "Raw Video" footage.

Am I correct in remebering Reuters is owned by middle-eastern interests?

To be quite honest: beats the shit outta me. All I know is that Reuters was founded by a Jew named Reuter; so I guess you could, in some vague and shady way, claim that Reuters is in fact owned by middle-eastern interests. But that shouldn't really surprise you, now should it?

The Reuters site is the absolute best news/information site I've yet found.  Thanks for the lead.

IIRC, the Reuters/Middle-east ownership connection was mentioned a couple of times a month or so ago.  I have no direct knowledge of the connection but if true would be interesting given the quality of their site.

I'll see what I can find.

my problem w/ the map is that the icons are drawn too thick and the map is zoomed out too far.  makes it hard to see what the map is showing.  oh, and that he's not using NATO/doctrinal symbols (some of the symbols are slightyly wrong, uber minor point)

I personally think Flit's maps are, although a little less detailed, much more readable.  but I'll still bookmark agonist's.
