| What's the best summer job (or job in general) you've ever had and why? |
|
I poured concrete one summer that sucked but paid well. But the best was when I made donuts, all the free donuts I wanted to take home. I dont eat many donuts now. I had fun when I worked for the PX at Fort McCoy out in a trailer selling jerky and Gatorade and CDs to weekend warriors during training while they played war games. These guys and gals were training for a few days and you would have thought they had been out there for months. Most of the time I read magazines, slept and filled the generators to keep the coolers running. |

Worked at at an all girls camp while in high school. Girls up to 18yo plus all the counselors. Also spent a summer processing watermelons. Bring them in from a farmer, cull them, load them into boxes or pallet bins, load them on semi's for the grocery stores. Hard labor in a 115+ degree warehouse. Sucked and it didn't pay that well. I still can't eat a watermelon to this day, the smell a rotten one makes is very distinctive. |
Lots of freaky deaky chicks at the circus. The bearded chick was hot, but she had to wear a bag. She said she was used to it. |
I've got friends in the Parks department and once in a while I'll take an afternoon off to take my kids to the waterpark and see them there. I can't help but make a comment every time about how "tough" that job must be. Talk about a MILF hang-out. |
| I worked for the city one summer. Did building maintence at a building a half mile from my house. I worked 6 hour shifts, whenever I wanted too. People were generally in the building for 2 of the 6 hours there. So for 4 hours, once my duties were done, I got to do what i felt like. And for my age the pay was not bad at all. |
Same. I still do it a day or so a week just to help out the pool manager when I'm free from my full time job. It really is an awesome job. You don't do shit except sit on your ass. You get to swim when ever you want. Lots and LOTS of hot girls and milfs. You get a 15 minute break every hour (adult swim). You get keys to the pool, you can come and go whenever you want. Good pay. When I was lifeguarding at the Country Club pool that was a joke. More money for even less work, and instead of just snacks we got free "real" food. Plus I got to meet a lot of very important old men (I drove one guys brand new Ford GT40 the day he got it) and a lot of very hot young, rich women. Dated several of them. Some of my best memories from high school have been parties at that pool on weekends. I won't even mention the things that went on because nobody would believe them. I'll just say it was stupid and fun. Dads, don't let your children be lifeguards when they're teenagers, trust me.

Yes! Dear God rotten watermelons is a terrible smell... I experienced that while working for Texas Bollweevil Eradication Foundation, where I basically got paid to 4 wheel all day. |
Dear Penthouse... ![]() I spent years in life guarding and managing pools from crappy neighborhood to high end country clubs and did not see any of the behavior you mention. Did get some good dates out of it but not as good as you insinuate. I guess I already find it hard to believe. But hey its the internet so who knows....... |
Dude, I thought being an evil henchman would be sweet, travel the world and meet new people, until I got assigned to a volcano lair and someone pushed the self-destruct button... |
Yep, you haven't lived until you've seen two hot 18 year old chicks piss off the high dive. |

Worked at Universal Studios as a Scaractor for a couple weeks before Halloween in the mid 90s. They did the make up and clothes. My whole job was to hide, then jump out and scare the shit out of people! You would be amazed how many studly guys scream like little bitches when they are scared. Also being a door man/bouncer for a male strip act is a great job!!! Most of the guys are gay, so you have about a 100/1 chance with a bunch of really drunk horny women! |

Worked as a ditch rider for a irrigation district for two summers. Pretty cool, you were basically your own boss and issued your own pickup. Also worked in SE Alaska another summer as a surveyor. That was fun too, even with the constant rain, the bugs and sasquatch. |

Not a summer job , but probably the best job of my youth was when I was 19 . I worked for a large plumbing company in FL . After a few months I worked to doing rough in work ( running copper and PCV ) on a huge condo job . The site foreman made a deal with the rough in guys . Complete two units and you can call it a day with full pay . For almost two years after that I never worked past 11 am . Life was good . Young single guy living in south Fl making good money ($12 Hr) in the late 70's with almost unlimited free time |

State Park Lifeguard. The pay was good, the tan was nice, the land whales weren't so nice. Congressional Page, talking to Congressman all day was interesting and I made decent coin. State Department of Transportation, get a state vehicle, credit card for gas, pays really well, and get college credit. |

i had a couple > worked for a T bird parts place that specialized in 59~65 T Bird parts. > worked for a naval architect that was one of the principal engineers on the boeing Hydrofoil. I had a chance to work on a ~ 35" Ferry for Alaska, barge and a SWATH that is in use in Hawaii for dinner cruizes. |

When we lived in Indianapolis I worked for my father. He owned a window washing company. I got to ride the stage down the sides of buildings downtown washing windows. Never got flashed so much in all my life. |
