don't remember the one I have, but you can use the camera flash or the screen.  it's come in handy a couple of times.

I have an HTC Inspire with 2 LED's. I got an app just called "Flashlight" (pretty generic huh?). With the 2 LEDs you can have different levels of brightness, it does an SOS signal, blinks, stuff like that. I like it because I can light up one LED at a time without blinding myself. I'm not sure if the Droid X has only a single LED tho?

Droid as in Verizon's Android lineup?  Depends.  The Motorolas can use MotoTorch which works pretty well... it'll flash and do morse code and shit.

Other maker's phones, I don't know.

There are times when I don't have a regular flash light handy or it isn't needed so I use a flash light app on my phone.

I use Tiny Flashlight.  It's minimal but it gets the job done.

I use LED light. I have it placed as a widget on my homescreen, and also on my lockscreen using widgetlocker. Quick to deploy, and that LED flash is insanely bright. Comes in handy almost daily.

Very happy with Tesla LED - haven't really tried others, though.
