No...not for me, but I want to get my wife a good flashlight for her purse for Christmas.

So I was wondering what you guys and girls recommend.  I'm thinking pretty small so it doesn't add a lot of weight, but not so small it's hard to find (have you ever seen the inside of a woman's purse, it's like the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark).

I don't imagine it would need eye-searing 200 Lumens or anything either, I'd imagine under 50 would be find, just for a general use flashlight.

I'm thinking LED so it doesn't eat batteries so quick and maybe something that runs off of AA or AAA since they are easier to find and cheaper than the CR123's.

Also, something that won't accidentally come on while bouncing around in a purse is a MUST.

What say ye?

THIS! I buy them by the dozen! have two in my pocket even as we speak. Add it to her key ring and she'll always find it.

That cool! Been carrying around a G2 and similiar sized flashlights in my pockets and I'm coming to the conclusion that I have too much shit in my pockets to keep doing this.

Need something that size.

Of course 10 years ago we were stuck with big honkin Maglights that comparatively didn't give off much light. We got spoiled pretty quick!

For guys, it's the 4sevens quark AA tactical, or maybe the 123^2 version.

For a purse, that's too expensive a light.  You want something they won't feel bad about losing.

I have a Mini Maglight LED that I use for work that works fine
for doing cell checks and searches.  I don't think she'd really
need more than that.  It's about 25 bucks from Wal Mart

Why would you want a fleshlight for your purse?

Surefire G2 LED...runs on 123's though.

I would get her the Quark mini AA.  Its a twisty so it won't come on accidentally in her purse. Twist it on to low, then off and back on to medium, then off and back on to high.

quark mini AA

Fenix LD15 is a great two level option. Its a little cheaper than the Quark, but not much.
LD15

The Fenix LD01 is also a great choice. It tops out at 80 lumens and one rides on my company car keychain all the time. LD01

The Quark Preon Revo is pricier, but one of the greatest lights of its size I have ever seen.
revo

All of these lights totally out class the Maratac lights, that I have had and was never impressed with. These lights are worth the extra money.  What do I know. This is an old picture of my single cell collection.

I despise AAA batteries, so I look more for AA models. Two fairly inexpensive ones have made it onto my Christmas list this year - Inova x1, Quark Mini AA.

Put a lithium AA in it and let it settle to the bottom of her bag. ;-)

Nice collection.

What was your issues with the Maratac lights?  The only reason I consider those at all over the ones you listed (the price difference for a nice Christmas gift that she'll actually use is pretty negligible) is that I worry she'll lose it.  If it's truly that much nicer, I might just not worry about it after I subtly remind her to keep up with it. :)

For a purse, I would recommend either a 2AA or 2AAA light.

These will be small and lightweight.  A single AA or AAA is too easy to lose, and if it isn't kept in a specific pocket in the purse when it is needed she will spend more time digging around looking for it. (just imo)

I'm a huge fan of single cell lights, but I don't have nearly as many as Batmancw

The head on the maratac is very loose. Its quite easy to turn it off and still push on or tweek the head and get it to come on inside a pocket or purse. The head is also extremely thin where it threads over the body. Its not hard to snap it off accidentally. They suffer from contact issues that make them require being tight to get rid of flickering, which is another reason folks pop the head off.

The LD01 and revo are the same size and they are much, much better lights. Either of these lights would make a great addition to her key chain so she can't loose it, unless she looses her keys.

Another way to make sure she doesn't loose is would be to make a cord that would go around the strap, but long enough to let it hang inside her purse, though the zipper. All of the lights I mentioned should have a key chain hole. It would be attached to her purse but you could use some sort of snap link so she could remove it if she needed to.

I didn't know flesh lights came in purse size? Also I have seen some adult toy shaped or real IDK, flashlights. Saw one fall out of a chicks purse one time and it lit up, boy she was beet red.

I'm going to +1 Batman's Fenix LD01 recommendation, or maybe move up to the LD AA single cell (I would guess that is an LD10).

I EDC a LD20 on my belt with my cell phone, but that looks kinda large to roll around in a purse.

Amazon has Fenix too.

My wife likes her 2 cell prion from 4-sevens.  Perhaps not the ultimate edc - but the longer flashlight is easier to find in a purse, and will stick in pen holders.  It is a 2xAAA light.  Very thin.  She got one of the original kits - which is both bodies and both caps - but only uses the 2cell one now.
