This is in regards to supplements ie whey proteins. I am looking for one relatively cheap, limited creatine preferably none, however it needs to have amino acids, and also be priced relatively well. What are my options?
Thanks |

You've asked something like 3 questions in one.
There is whey protein, which is relatively rapidly absorbed/digested...you can buy it pure. There is casein protein, which is slowly digested...you can buy this pure. And there are aminos; different forms are mixed, essential and branched chain...can be bought in any form. There are also grades of protein; concentrate, isolate (multiple forms), etc. and processes like hydrolization. The "cheapest" grade of whey is concentrate. Check out TRUEPROTEIN for every protein known to man. |

There isn't really a "best".
The cheapest whey will be whey concentrate versus the various forms of isolate. Check out TP.com...they have all forms, grades, etc. with explanations of what they are...and another forum to get addicted to. They offer bulk pricing on pure protein, custom mixes and other supps. The "problem" with the major brands is that they put in a bunch of extra things and charge whey (pun) more than the per/lb price of whey protein concentrate...which is currently $4.89 or less per lb. |

In my opinion the best tasting, easiest to mix, highest quality at a good price whey is ON 100% Whey.
I buy mine at the local Vitamin Shoppe. Five lbs for $42.... http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=OP-1011 |

You are paying $3/lb for a plastic jug, a scoop and a "brand name" on the container. |

Like I said above, I haven't found anything that tastes better, mixes easier or is higher quality for a better price. Yes some are cheaper, but they don't meet those standards. |

eggs this was going to be my answer. glad I scrolled down. look at the body builders from the 70's, yes they were smaller but they didnt have all the supplements of today. They relied on Eggs and chicken for their protein. They also relied on the old ECA stack as a fat burner (Ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin) Natron |
| If I'm going cheap, I order scivation chocolate whey from bodybuilding.com. $65 for 10lbs, and can normally find 10% off coupons online to knock the price down to just below $60.00. I've used 4-5 boxes of it, and like it. I have also used ON whey, but I can't beat the price on the scivation. |

Whey protein isolate or concentrate (I prefer isolate). Isolate is more expensive though. Also see allthewhey.com, though they're a little behind in shipping orders, it seems. Protein is made of amino acids - are you looking to have aminos separate from what is in the protein? |

No sir, I was just under the obviously misguided impression that they were two different things haha. Thanks for the correction. I've cycled off here for a little while so next time will be the on 100% stuff. Sounds great. Thanks for all the help guys and girls! |

Well, there's good reasons to supplement separately with separate aminos but I wasn't sure what you meant. Branch chain amino acids (BCAAs) in particular are excellent for growth and recovery. That said, they are relatively expensive, they don't dissolve well, and they don't taste great (so stick to a citrus flavor to cover up the bitterness). I'm a fan of Excell by Anabolic Innovations, although I think that's being phased out by their newer product RecoverPRO (which isn't much different). 1000 grams will run you around $43; each serving is 6.8 grams and I like to use 4 servings a day (2 at a time) when I'm working out, plus 2 servings (at once) a couple hours after my post workout meal. I definitely recommend a blender bottle if you are going to use BCAAs. |
