| Just saw a preview for this show. Apparently it's been on for a while but I've never seen it. What is arfcom's opinion? Is it worth the disk space on the DVR? |

Quoted: my late-brother went a long time ago. The Fear lasted about 4 months and he went back into his bone headed drug habits. This. It seems that a lot of the kids on the show straighten up for a little while and then go right back to their bad habits. I watched all of last season and could tell the kids that didn't give a fuck vs the kids that were just being stupid. The ones just being stupid kids tended to fix themselves vs the others who kept right on trucking on the road to ruin. |

Boot Camps are totally ineffective unless followed up by a street work program. We ran both programs at a unit I worked at and the recidivism rate for those that went through just the Boot Camp was the same as real prison. Real life on the street is much scarier than some DI yelling at you. I swear some of those young men looked as if they had been used for target pratice.
As the convicts (non-violent felon probation violators) were assigned the programs by Judges often they were not assigned to both programs. The Boot Camp was done away with. The job program was a better stand-alone program and recidivism was about 15% less than real prison. |

I saw an episode this weekend. There was a 12 or 13 year old walking through a cell block...
All the cons were yelling "gimme the baby"... come here baby... It looked like it scared the beejesus out of him. He was crying later in the show IIRC. Sadly, the post show notes detailed that he was still up to his no good behavior. It's only a matter of time before he ends up there. I know if I went there I'd be a basket case..... |
