Depends. I bet fiber-optic or metallic nerves come pretty soon. That would drastically increase reaction times. Augmented eyes (night vision, other wavelengths, etc) might come in the next 15-20 years. Full blown augmented limbs, probably not too long after that.
Along the way, I imagine lots of glucose/fat powered implants will come along. Timekeepers, flashlights, etc. |

Timekeepers, flashlights, etc. That would be cool and I can see technology advancing towards that but who knows when a breakthrough might happen to allow the majority of human bodies to not reject the foreign materials. For objects not tied into nerves I guess it would be fine but as far as I know (without research) the human body forms scar tissue around objects that are not rejected (pushed out) and that would be no good for nerve connectivity right? |
