Sucked. Independent movie, which was the first clue.

Its a 2 hour movie. Takes half an hour for the first person to go blind. An hour is spent in quarantine (which was mildly interesting as it showed the decline of civilization) and then the last half hour they escape becasue nobody is guarding the place anymore and left all the gates unlocked. They wander around London, where everybody has gone blind, then find their way back to the main character's house where they stay until the happy ending...

I had a very different take on the movie. I thought it was well made - gritty, graphic, very dark.

It showed the anarchy & chaos of such a crisis, the brutality of human nature in such crisis and the efforts by others to help each other.

The last 20 minutes (after the escape the confines of the quarantine camp) were cool too, with a destroyed city filled with wild dogs and wandering survivors blindly fighting for food, water etc.

I thought it was pretty good!

It certainly was dark and provides one with some personal moral dilemmas to ponder.

If I had been Julianne Moores' character I wouldn't have put up with the shit that ward 3 tried to impose on ward 1.

I think she displayed both extreme bravery for putting herself into a situation she didn't have to go into, but also somewhat of a coward for being the best person there able to deal with (end) the situation, but not doing so.

I think everyone in the audience put themselves in her position and asked the question "what would I do in that same situation, and if I did do something to try to stop it, when would I do it."

And.....I think it was filmed mostly in Brazil and Uraguay.

Haven't seen the movie, but loved City of God (same director). Check it out.  Included documentary about drug war in slums is amazing.

I saw it last night. I thought it was a pretty good movie, but yeah I think most people here would be thinking that she should have crept in there all ninja like and started shanking those blind assholes in ward 3 sooner.

Here, let me tell you the ending.

That does sound like a really neat ending! I'm sure when I see it tonight, I'll think the same thing

As opposed to all those high-quality Hollywood blockbusters.

I thought it was a good movie; very gritty and at times hard to watch but overall an interesting premise.  Artistic, bold, and showed the spectrum of human characteristics; good and evil.

***SPOILERS***

This would be a grand payback...

Once Julianne Moore killed Douchebag #1 in ward 3 these are the new rules:

1.  First off we could kill anyone in ward 3 like an invisible man.

2.  All the food will now be distributed by ward 1 or see rule #1

3.  We're going to starve you a little to prove either rule #1 or 2

4.  After we starve you for three days all of the men who participated in the rapes will line up naked and report to ward 1, you then bend over on all fours and take your punishement, we don't tell them but it will be rape by broom handle.

5.  Once satisfied you may get your food, any questions?

Hmm, read the book and thought it was great. My podunk town doesn't get new movies, so I'll have to wait for this one.

By now you've seen the movie, and know that I really didn't give the ending away
