Everyone has asked me, "GAZ32, you live so close, why didn't you go to the Blue's air show last weekend?"

My answer is why spend 3 hours to drive 10 miles, and have to get there 4-6 hours early to be able to get close, when I can watch it on YouTube.

Oh god.  If that happened in Canada, there would be people calling 9-1-1, environmental groups writing to the Prime Minister, official investigations into why the planes were there and what they were doing, people suing for emotional damages, people suing for supposed damages to their fucking tents and chairs, etc.

I wish the AFB was still open here. They'd practice the day before the air shows and fly right over the house.

One year flew inverted over the house so low I could clearly see the pilot. It was awesome! I miss the air shows.

Now I just watch the pair of A-10's and an Apache fly over the lake. And I still get excited.

Pensacola is the Blue's home (well, except for Winter when they go West to train) nobody, and I mean nobody, is going to complain. FWIW: They flew in Hurricane supplies using Fat Albert during Ivan. If you live in Pensacola, you get to see them a lot and can go to their practice sessions. Many times when they come home from an airshow someplace, they will fly down the beach in formation with the smoke going.

Best place to see the airshow is on a boat on the Gulf Side or from the top of one of the hotels.

The AC-130's come over from Hurlbert every so often and orbit the City at night, I suppose for training. It's eerie to hear that drone of their orbit.

When the Raptors arrived here at Elmendorf, I spent the week out on the runway picking up temp fencing that had their hangers(all new construction) closed off from the rest of the area, anyway of course they had to compare the raptors to the (I assume f15's) that were stationed there...it was a kick ass week and better then any airshow I have gone too..boys were getting it in both airframes...
