What's your body armor strategy for the new order?

weird. My town is full of morons, then. Two FFL's and a cop all said that it was illegal for a civilian to own body armor. As such, I just never even looked for it. I've heard the same thing. I was at the gun show at the convention center in King of Prussia/Valley Forge, PA a few months ago and heard that anything above Class III was illegal. This came from a guy representing a manufacturing company that manufactures Kevlar vests in Pennsylvania. |
If money was no object, I think the plate carrier system from Crye Precision would be cool. And no, it's not just because I drank the Multicam Kool-Aid The review of it I read at military morons impressed me, seemed like some genuine thought/human engineering went into it. I was a human factors major, so i think about things like that |

$900 for the vest
$300 a piece for each from and back plate and 200 for the side plates. The best way is to get you commander to signed off on the purchase right from the companys website and your all set. It helped that CIF was all out and we got permission to buy our body armor as long as it was straight from the company. |

I'm trying to imagine a use I would have for body armor When the shooting starts, its better to have them and not need them then to need them and not have them. or you could just leave the area... ![]() He does not want Lootie to jack all his stuff from is house. |

I guess if when the shooting starts someone will give me a head's up in time to get the vest and put it on. I would be curious to hear some stories where a non-LEO/.mil used body armor to their advantage. |

It seems armor would be very useful when the amount of lawlessness in your country starts to increase (ala Katrina, for a recent example here). Its not that you will be getting into gun fights everyday, but if someone decides to shoot you in you back for your wallet, you stand a chance. |

If there is ever a riot or if the zombies attack, you will have seen it on the news or you hear gun fire. You will not have a lot of time but enough to get strapped up. I rather have it then not need it then need it and not have it. |

He lived it down in Argentina. Here you go ETA: it's somewhere in the ferfal archives, can't find it at the moment |
| The old interceptor is good protection, but horrible ergonomics. Plus, you move like a giant turtle with all the plates. The new OTVs look a little better cut and more comfortable (and they have quick-release, though unless you spend a lot of time on bridges/boats, I'm not too sure how useful that is). The big problem is, someone wearing tactical body armor is gonna be pretty obvious. I think a III or IIIA concealment vest with a plate carrier to throw on for 'real' SHTF might be more practical, if a little bulkier. |

This is my problem, SHTF. I go and get in battle dress ready to defend my home, look over at the rest of my family and they have nothing. Kinda like eating a large pizza in front of your starving family. So I choose to not have. Don't get me wrong If I were alone in my own home then it would be no issue. |

if the neighborhood gets so bad I need body armour, then Im just gonna move. you're in canada, you have nothing to worry aboot you right, ive gots lots of guns, tons of ammo....and free health care...plus no Obama
You can buy armour up here if you want it. |

I just spent the last few minutes Googling the legalities of body armor. Seems to be legal in all US states (don't quote me on that though). Only exception is felons. Also, if you use it in a crime that is also an extra mark on your record. Australia does ban body armor though...that whole Ned Kelly incident... |

IBTP this. My body armor strategy is "none", since it's illegal. Body armor is illegal in PA? I did a little digging. I don't think it is. There's a discussion going on at pafoa.org here about the subject. It appears body armor is illegal to use, posses, etc. in the commission of a felony. There really is a misconception about this issue in PA. A manufacturer of Kevlar vests told me that anything above Class III was illegal in PA. I have no idea why he said that. |
