I didn't know that 737's were used as fire bombers.

Hopefully the pilots come out ok. It's a miracle they're alive to be taken to the hospital

Crash can mean a lot of things in aviation. If the crew were recovered by EMS personnel and taken to a hospital then it's probably not the "plane crash" you first envisioned.
Thanks to nebulous media headlines. |

Must have been a rough landing. According to that tracker it still exists and was moved from the runway.

Amazing they survived. I'm glad it finally stopped raining down there, sucks for fires though.

However, this time the Boeing 737 only managed to reach around 1,800ft before crashing in the vicinity of the fire it had been fighting." |

I was much less interested in the big fire planes when I found out they filled them on the ground The idea of a 737 skimming a lake was blowing my mind.
Be interesting to see what comes of the crash investigation. Watching vids of the flying these guys do I’m amazed there aren’t more issues. |

Fuuudge.
2 were lost in a heli crash in Chile this weekend. Coulson is one of these biggest tanker contractors in the US. They are common all around the US during fire season. The air crew is probably American. Hope they are okay. |
|
Glad to hear they survived. I had a friend/coworker pass away on a firefighting C-130 from Coulson that crashed in Australia about 3 years ago.
RIP Rick |

Must have been some sh*t hot pilots to sort of walk away from whatever happened..

I hope the black box is recovered. I really want to hear from the pilots. Should be one hell of a story.

If they were full....maybe they just put out their own fire? Walking away from a 737 crash is like winning the lottery...wow

Any landing you walk away from is a GOOD landing. That's not a crash.
|
|
The pilot of that aircraft is the brother of one of my good friends here (Boyd).
I haven't seen Boyd yet since the crash, but he has talked to his brother briefly right after the crash. Hopefully, he can give me some info. Boyd himself also flew the 737 fire bomber over there in Australia. |
|
Wow they walked away from that. Has there been any pictures of how long the skid mark is?
|
|
I will never forget the video of that C-130 fire bomber having its wings fold up while dropping a load.

Landing that thing on a dirt road went much better than I'd expect, really.
