Anybody else see it ? What did you think ?
1/8/2017 2:15:10 AM EDT
[#1]
I liked it.  It reminded me of Call of Cthulhu, if you've ever played that Lovecraft-inspired role playing game.
1/8/2017 2:15:12 AM EDT
[#2]
Graphic and depressing.

Odd but likable movie. Couple things though...the flute bone thingus was stupid. Also apparently flute bone thingus guys are fucking deaf.

Still kinda dug the movie, and the dinner prep scene was very cringey.

Strange. Kurt must be desperate for work.

The cave scenes

Twisted, but had me thinking about it for days afterwards.

I could have done without the whole love letter/poem part but over all I thought it was an excellent movie.

+1

Nothing like being split from the crotch up. Was pretty gory scenes but I enjoyed it. I think we all knew that the cripple would save the day at the end tho... could have had a better ending.

What did you think of their "breeders" ? I laughed and said "that's the perfect woman"

[#10]
I liked it. The bone whistle things in their neck was silly, but not so bad as to ruin the movie. The concept itself was awesome, I think with better execution it could have been phenomenal.
1/8/2017 2:21:57 AM EDT
[#11]
I thought it was better than "The Hateful Eight".

Weird, scary, unconventional... perfect cult film.

Not even close. I loved the Hateful Eight. Most people won't like it for a number of reasons, but I thought it was great. Bone Tomahawk is nowhere near the level of Hateful Eight in terms of story, dialogue, directing or cinematography.

Great movie. Super brutal

Strange but not terrible, not a watch repeatedly kind of flick though

It was one of the those movies that I watched and it was OK but don't know if i'd bother sitting for it again.

No real suspense just a "this happened so we will do this movie". That works for Zombie movies because we know the deal. In BT I knew they would find the girl so it was just a matter of killing time till the last act. I guess what i'm saying is it wasn't exactly "The Searchers"

But OK.

Liked it a lot. ( apart from the really slow deliberate dialogue)

Good film, mixture of several other movies in there. Nice and graphic.

Stupid fucking movie.

I liked it. I love Kurt Russell

The scene where the guy reloads his Merwin Hulbert makes me wish someone would make a modern replica.

Great movie. Took a while to get up to speed, but once it did I really enjoyed it. Not your typical western.  The dandy/gunslinger reminded me of Burt Gummer.

[#24]
I'm watching it right now.  I had been meaning to earlier and this thread just pushed me up to speed.

Have about  20 minutes left to go.

The only thing I haven't liked is how stereotypical the cave people are. and WTF is up with the grunting noise / calls lol?
sounds   like its fake as hell

Worst movie Russell has ever signed on to. Pathetic acting and script.
1/8/2017 11:43:57 AM EDT
[#26]
Meh.  Graphic for the sake of being graphic.  Surprising that so many established actors would sign on to such a low budget movie.

I saw it and Hateful Eight in the same week, that was a bad, wasteful week and time out of my life that I'll never get back.

Ford and Peckinpah are rolling in their grave.

Reminded me more of R.E. Howard in style, like a Solomon Kane in the old west.

Its actually very good. A bit violent to watch with the kids if you ask me.
Not perfect but all in all, one of the better movies Ive seen in some time.

I'm a huge fan of the western genre and think it is probably one of the best westerns to be made in the last 10 years (second to the remake of true grit).

kurt russell is one of my favorites and he always delivers, much better than his portrayal of yosemite sam in that cinematic thiefs movie.

how he switched from the 3 inch schofield to the 7 inch one when he left the city for the country was cool.

the old side kick really was a tribute to the gabby hayes types of yesterday and nailed the role.

the merwin and hubert reload is a rarity and a treat (penny dreadfuls dr frankenstein uses one - I also would love to see a replica made)

the girl was cute

the lost tribe had a "wrong turn", "hills have eyes" and "house of a 1000 corpses" twist to it kicked off by sid haig in the beginning.

billy the kid and wyatt earp have been done to death (don't even get me started on batman and spiderman) I welcomed the old blend western with the new violence infused.

also the new magnificent seven was really good they should have just named it something different and it would have performed better at the box office as brynner and mcQueen trump all challengers.

Definitely had a B-movie feel to it, but it wasn't too bad.

I didn't see Hatefull Eight (and won't pay a cent to see any of scumbag Tarantino's ripoff movies). Besides Tarantino being a shill for BLM and full of crap, his movies are ripoff's of 70's movies. I read a synopsis of Hatefull 8 and it seems to ripoff the Japanese movie "Machibuse" aka "Incident at Blood Pass." Check it out. His crappy Kill Bill was obviously a ripoff of the Japanese movie "Lady Snow Blood." "Pulp Fiction" was obviously a ripoff of "Bonnie's Kids" (check out this movie which has a white guy -Alex Rocco and his black partner, hit man team. "Django Unchained" was a ripoff of the old Italian western "Django," starring Franco Nero. Tarantino seems to like to ripoff old movies and re-write the scripts with verbose characters.

I agree the whistle thingy was a bit much but  North American Indians had a brutal history, even before the white man came. Some tribes even practiced cannibalism.

If you dug the movie, you might like this book: "Empire of the Summer Moon"

It's one of those movies you watch, thinking "this is kind of lame, but I'll keep watching because I think it's going to get good any second now."  And it never happens.
1/8/2017 1:37:30 PM EDT

I enjoyed the dialog the first time I watched it. I might have to watch it again one of these evenings.

I love the girl from True Detective (dat ass!), but holy shit she almost ruined the movie.

Wrong character, wrong writing, wrong casting.

Everybody else was awesome. Guy from Lost should be in more Westerns.

Was not expecting the turn to horror. But I enjoyed the surprise.

Western version of The Hills Have Eyes, I thought it was lame.

I liked it.

It was interesting, I don't watch much western-themed horror movies (or was it a horror-themed western?), and I give Kurt Russell a pass on anything.

I doubt I would watch it again though.
