I'm just a little bit curious as to where people around here stand with respect to the issue of border security.

What are your thoughts on private citizens patrolling our nations borders while armed and with the intent to identify, apprehend, and question anybody they feel are illegal immigrants?

To clarify, these citizens are armed with handguns and long arms, do not have readily-visible credentials identifying them as having the authority to do the above things, are dressed in military or paramilitary outfits, and are incredibly fat.

To further clarify, these patrols are taking place on public lands such as the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument or the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.

Would you feel any differently if you personally were stopped and questioned (at gunpoint) by these people as you were going about your business on public land?

Probably a bad idea. Since when is the public reliable, reasonable and thinking?

Where is my land?

North of the border or South of the border.

I don't follow.  The lands in question are public lands within the United States.  Specific examples of what would qualify as such public lands were given in the OP.

The day Ready's Rangers go South of the Border will be the day we hear about the massacre on FOX.

If I am being questioned (at gunpoint) on public land in the US, the "Border Security" are not doing their jobs. They would kindly be told to FUCK OFF and watch South, not North.

So, you would have a problem with it.

I would personally have no problems with some private citizens hanging out on public lands, armed (for self defense), identifying border incursions and reporting them to US authorities.  Hell, that's what the National Guard did from 2006 to 2008.

that DOES make it easier for the left to discredit the entire border security agenda with the drooling masses.

to an objective person it shouldnt matter but the public is not known for objectivity

that happens enough day to day with actual police that it shouldnt matter, BUT if you are non-white and the guys doing this are neo-nazis i could see where that might become unnerving or offensive

You left out the nazi shit. We pride ourselves on truth, right?

You get a cross section of citizens out there that truly believe in securing the border and not playing out some fucktarded fantasy? I'm in.

That's not the reality, though. The fat nazi shit is more than just inconvenient. It's a real problem.

Political ideology is immaterial to the question I posed.  If you look at the OP again, I wanted to know what people felt about any private citizens patrolling our nations borders while armed and with the intent to identify, apprehend, and question anybody they feel are illegal immigrants?

Somebody has to do it.

If it's their land and lives at stake, all the more so.

The federals are useless as tits on a boar hog.

Two choices here. Do it yourselves. I feel sorry for the border residents. Hands tied and all. We all know what they are going through.
Heads back in the sand. No problem here. Murders, rapes, drugs, crimes of all nature. Let law enforcement handle it. Only either they can't or won't.

I think we should help our gov. secure the boarder . If we don't help  we have no one to blame but ourselves. We have the right to bear arms, just for this reason. A voluntary militia is what is needed to work with the gov. We are being invaded by mexico and the mex.gov. is condoning it. We sit hear day after day and bitch about whats going on, complain what the people that are helping look like. God forbid we should get off our lazy asses and actually do something to help. Do you realy think protecting our borders is not the place for us to help? Last time I checked we still have the right to protect ourselves and our country.

I doubt I would be stopped as I am quite pale, however if a non leo, unidentified individual were to pull a gun on me on public land where I was a citizen things would not go well from that point for anyone involved. Now private land and I say have at it.

The border is a real problem but any dumbass should not be holding anybody they "feel like" might be an illeagal. If the state needs private help, enact a militia with some sort of way to id themselves as such.

This border thing is a real fucking mess, with the best solution being the fed's doing their job, which they won't do.

I have some problem with, but am glad their out there doing something regardless. I don't see how it will be that hard to identify someone as not an American citizen, especially with no ID seeing as just about everyone I know of age carries atleast something. Not speaking english is a pretty clear definer to me also. That these guys are fat is their problem as long as their not on the people's payroll stuffing caramel coated Twinkies into their mouth. I do have a problem with the apprehension though and turn over to government authorities. It's a waste of time and the government is part of the problem with how weak their handling of the problem is in the first place or citizens wouldn't need to go out and do their job for them. If they've clearly identified these people as illegals, this is a war as far as I'm concerned for the security of our nation. Put to use a good bullet and shovel and send a better message of them not being welcome here.

We are a nation of laws and as such, the enforcement of said laws works from the upper level down, that in no way means that the citizen is prohibited from assisting with the enforcement of a just law.

Citizens following the laws of the land and acting in prudent fashion should be assisted in any way possible, especially given the length of the border and the inability of certain agencies to be at all places and at all times.

I think the only thing stopping thousands of Americans from doing it is the fear of .gov hanging them for it. Clearly the rights of people breaking the law and invading our country , transporting drugs etc are more important than our country to the pieces of shit in washington.
