Since shooting stuff is fun, and debunking hollywood myths is fun, how about this one?

Can a hay bale stop a bullet?  It would be pretty easy to put a piece of paper behind the bale so you could check for penetration.  Hay bales are usually pretty tightly packed, are fairly thick and may actually stop a round.

I figure since O_P and Tman live in Texas, there have to be horses, cowboys, saloons and hay bales nearly everywhere, so this should be easy to set up.

I'll go ahead and save O_P the trouble. They don't stop shit. Green, wet, dry...don't matter. .223 sails right through like they aren't even there - even 5 deep. I haven't personally tried a pistol round, but as a well educated guess? No better. They're not packed tight enough.

A hay bale doesn't always stop an arrow.

Hot knife = butter.

I'd put a loaf of bread behind it to stop the bullet.

Do not, I repeat, do not hide behind the hay bales!

Good to know guys, thanks!

Maybe if O_P gets his big break on the silver screen, he can use it as a program idea however, since most of us city slickers wouldn't know any better.
