I've got a code question for you electrical heavy guys. A buddy of mine is selling his house and the home inspector hit him for not having a retaining clamp on the feeder cables from the meter. 200A service, Aluminum wires. What's your take, is a clamp required? Does it depend on how the wires are run to the box (ie conduit, not conduit?)

Trying to picture my setup at home. Conduit, and I don't think there's a clamp.

Clamp?

Does he mean to protect & secure the service wire as it passes through the wall of the panel?

If so then yes. Stupid thing for someone to skimp on, they're like $5.

ETA: Google "SE Cable Connector" and let us know if that's what he's talking about

I would have asked the home inspector to give me the code he is referencing, tell your friend to call the home inspector and ask him wtf he is talking about.

VA, probably done as SEU, needs a 2" romex/SE connector/clamp at the panel, absolutely required by code.

I  asked him to take a picture tonight.  Probably get it tomorrow.
