Quoted: That seems like a poor way to determine where someone goes... shouldnt it depend on the crime they were convicted of? View Quote I imagine I does. The article I pulled that from alluded to it. For example it said that often federal informants were typically sent to high security facilities regardless of sentence length. |

Was the trial ever televised? I never heard any juicy bits.
Money Laundering, political funding etc. |

He was a big time Democrat donor. His cell will have a jacuzzi and a well stocked bar. If he has money stashed away he can buy a pardon from the big guy.

I guess I’ve never really thought about it. What is life like in a federal minimum security prison? Say you’re a middle aged guy convicted of a white collar crime. Obviously you deserve to be in prison but you’re not violent.
Now I need to rewatch Let’s Go to Prison, Shawshank, and Oz. |

They certainly have the means. I think Hans Gruber had the correct answer: "When you steal $600, you can just disappear. When you steal $600 million, they will find you unless they think you're already dead." |

I bet a lot of his victims have a money left over to pay for some "special treatment" for him, even if he is in "white collar resort prison" and not Federal PMITA.

In cases like this I’m a fan of old school style justice.
Seize every asset that turd has, claw back every expensive gift, every dime given to family, every house / car / boat / Jewelry he ever gave to anyone, every donation given to politicians, give all that money to make people / victims whole financially. Then calculate the shortage and force him to work for the rest of his life repaying it by garnishing 99% of every dollar he earns , while he’s sleeping on a cot in the back room at work , force him to sell plasma, garnish 99% of his social security checks when he starts getting them, work his ass every day, week, month, year, decade to repay every dime, until he drops , then when he’s dead, sell his organs after he’s dead and give that money to the victims too. That’s how you send a message. |

Say he has a crypto wallet nestegg hidden somewhere with tens or hundreds of millions in it...
a) Does statute of limitations apply to it so that when he gets out in ~20 years it's his, free and clear? b) Wouldn't he be sued by pretty much everyone that lost money through FTX over the course of the next 20+ years? |
