Does anybody else get really annoyed at these ads?  The ones where some BG is trying to break into a house while the family is there.  The alarm goes off and the bad guy runs away.  The famliy runs upstairs and locks a door.  Brinks calls the family and says the police are on the way.

I think this illustrates the need for a family to own a gun for self defense.

You wouldn't want to gun down a poor misunderstood individual who happens to be down on his luck and forced to steal in order to survive, would you?

yup, look at dem suburban folks run and hide.  Society of Pussies.  My Brother has ADT and I work 15 miles away from his house (30 Minutes drive AT BEST, maniac speed).  His alarm went off with the internal motion detector and ADT called my Brother, got the OK to call the cops, and then my brother called me to go check it out.  I beat the cops there by 15 minutes.  Yeah, that alarms is gonna save your ass....  That is why my whole family is armed.

No what I love is the mom saying "it's Brink's (on the phone) it's OK"

Bitch you had better pick up a gun because that phone isn't gonna stop that asshat from coming through the door and........

We have a Brink's Security System, but when the alarm goes off, we (my wife and two children) retreat to the safe where Dad issues everyone their weapon.

You don't need an alarm company to hold your hand and call the cops if you protect yourself. If they shot the guy, they wouldn't need the police to rush to their aid, as the problem would be taken care of. This isn't a good thing to portray when your business caters to people who are too scared to call the police themselves, much less shoot someone.

It's well known in Milwaukee, that due to budget constraints, the city police most likely will not respond to any private residence security alarm - this comes right from the Chief.  This is mentioned in the local media at least once a week.

Police seem to hate alarm system because they are either false alarmsor by the time they get there its far too late.

Suggestion: Your alarm goes off, grab a gun, bat, something and call 911 yourself. WAY more responsive.

I look at the alarm system primarily as property protection when no one is home. Or early warning if I am at home. The Sig will handle the rest.

I would love a spoof of the ad (like the Net-zero vs. AOL ads) where the mom grabs a shotgun and starts cutting the robbers in half.   How come there aren’t any gun commercials on regular TV?

I hear you - I HATE those commercials!!! Instead of taking charge the man of the house tucks his cock and balls behind his legs and hides with the rest of the family, and when BRINKS calls, well, everything is A-OK!! Because it's fucking BRINKS on the phone!! How is anyone going to kill you when BRINKS is right there, ON THE FRICKEN PHONE??? "Stop right there, I'm talking to BRINKS!!" "Oh shit man, I didn't know! I'll go next door! Cheerio!"

They need one where brinks calls and the woman says, "No thanks, I got it taken care of."  While she's holding a Mk46 Mod0.

Glad to hear I am not the only one that  hates them.

I was thinking about a spoof on the ad too.  Mabe by the NRA.   We might even be able convert some of the people on the fence about  firearms.

If someone tried that with me, I'd grab my piece and waste the motherfucker!

Be all like "Break into MY will you...well...heres one for your arm BAM!...heres one for your leg BAM!...gets see if I am a sharpshooter...lets go for your nuts...BAM!"

the worst one is where the husband cowers in fear while the wife takes charge and answers the phone and informs the family that they are all ok

I was thinking the same thing. I say to myself every time I see that, "...and that is why I have a gun, so I don't have to hudle like a sheep waiting for someone else to rescue me". I don't like to rely on a noise to scare someone off. What if they are looking for more then just valuables.

I would call our dispatch center (911), and ID myself and the situation in progress to the on-duty dispatcher. I would wait until he entered the house. At that would identify myself as a Peace Officer, and instruct him to not make any sudden moves. Since he is actively committing a felony, I would have my sidearm in the ready - covering position. (pointed at him - finger off trigger)

If he made any sudden move after that warning, I could only assume that it was for a weapon, in an effort to kill or disarm me, and continue his felonious criminal activity - including possible escalation of that activity to remove any witnesses - like my wife and daughter.

I would act decisively  to take appropriate action to the level of the threat that I perceived, with the most immediate results possible to stop that threat, and cause the perpetrator to immediately cease and desist from any further criminal activity.

If you're saying you'd blast him unless he complied with your instructions, then I concur.

Damn that's good stuff.

I really dislike that commercial.  However, I can personally say that Brink's probably saved me some serious cash about a month ago.  My house was broken into (I wasn't home) and the cops showed up about 4 minutes after the alarm sounded.  I was thankfully only out 6 bucks for a window.  The thread title was "my house was broken into" if anyone wants a read, I didn't bookmark it.
