I've been thinking about getting rid of FireFox for a while now due to how much of a resource hog it is, even with a blank page up.
There's IE, FF, Google Chrome, Opera...and I'm sure others exist. What's the best? Post your favorite, and tell me a little about it. |

ie, opera, and seamonkey for me polar opposite here... safari/mac and chrome/windows. i can't f*cking stand IE because of microsoft's approach to web standards "we have a huge installed base, lets just not worry about conforming to standards and let all of the designers and users suffer as a result." don't really have a reason to dislike opera, but it has never impressed me. firefox is pretty reliable for me, if a bit sluggish. i think safari on the mac is the way the internet experience should be. |

After reading some reviews and seeing some test results, I decided to go with Opera. It's a nice browser, but there's two things about it I don't like when comparing to Firefox.
1. Very little add-ons, I'm talking enough to fit on one standard web page...none of which serve me any useful purpose. 2. Starting Opera with a blank page, or opening a blank tab shows you the "Speed Dial" which I find stupid...but even though I can't use it, it's there to stay apparently as I have yet to find a way to get rid of it. I suppose I could maybe learn to use it or just ignore it. I can't completely get rid of Firefox due to the sweet add-ons I've become accustomed to, mainly chatzilla which lets me run IRC in a tab. Hopefully Opera catches on, or someone at least makes a tabbed IRC plugin for it. |
| If you're a big Facebook/MySpace/Youtube/Twitter/etc guy, you can check out Flock. Not my favorite browser, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Personally, I prefer the portable browsers like ghostzilla, portable firefox, portable chrome, etc since you don't have to install them and can run them off a usb stick/flash drive. |
| I was using firefox for years, but it got to where every so often it would throw an error when I tried to launch. The only fix was to reinstall it. Then I tried chrome, but it would constantly fail to load pages here. So then I tried safari, which is my current browser. For the most part I like it the best but it hangs up about 5% of the time which is really annoying. FWIW I have a vista machine and I always keep the OS and browsers updated. |

Right now I have Opera, Safari & Firefox installed. I use Firefox 90% of the time even though it loads a little slower than the others, because of all the add-ons. I installed Chrome when it was released but it had too many problems with pages not loading and I lost interest. |
