Started stocking the new shelves, this does not look like much, but thats 30 flats of canned food / 360 cans on it right now. It will hold around 80 total / 1000 cans or so.
Ill hit the store sun once the roads clear some, and pick up prob 20 more flats / another 300 cans or so to add to it. Then ill add a couple more shelves to the shelf on the far left for better organization of things. Storage rooms coming along nicely, and will hold a ton of well organized food and other supplies when its finished ! Which should be in the next month or so. Attached File |

Another good buy at G.O.
LCP I/II Magazines https://globalordnance.com/6rd-380-cbs-mag-rug-lcp-blk-glss-bk-flwr-upc-766897412097/ Picked up two of these on my last order, they run great. Not a stack deep magazine, for obvious reasons, but for the price: Sign me up. I'll be picking up a few more on my next order. If I were a betting man, I'd say these and the factory OEM Ruger mags are both made by the same manufacturer, possibly Mec-Gar? |

Just bought another 30 flats of canned food for my storage room, prices are up on everything since just last month. Spent $300 today on food, 90% of it is for my storage room.
Feels good to be getting stocked up on eats ! Prices will prob jump BIGGLY by midsummer due to shortages, and big increases on the price of fuel, herbicides, and fertilizers...not to mention inflation as well. so, best buy food right now today people, dont wait, its not going to ever get cheaper than it is right now. Cooking up some 50/50 venison/beef burgers right now. All in cost is about $1.25/lb and they’re frickin good. |

Time to turn the deer into ground meat, jerky, and steaks. Fun fun ! First time grinding burger, ill let you know how it goes.
Grinder is a full 1HP, so hopefully it plows thru venison pretty easily, so i have to do much less meat trimming to remove gristle, membranes, etc. . Hope so anyway, because trimming that shit out sucks, and the more trimming required the more meat lost. Fingers crossed ! Butcher shop. Attached File Attached File Vac sealer Attached File Meat grinder Attached File Dehydrator / jerky maker Attached File Butcher boy meat saw Attached File Next UPGREYYEDs / planned 2022 UPGREYYEDs will be a BIGASSED stainless double door commercial fridge, ( should cost about $500.00 ) so ill have 3x more room to store over flow from house fridge, and store a ton of deer meat while its being processed and UPGREYYEDing my smaller 7cu freezer to a larger 10cu' size. ( another $300 approx ) Id rather have multiple smaller freezers with a empty spare / enough room to move meat from a freezer that breaks...so i wont lose meat...if im using 1 huge freezer , i can't do that. Iv also got freezer alarms that send alerts to my phone , so i can catch freezer problems quickly, to avoid losing meat. Building this kitchen / butcher shop cost me $2000.00 in all in total. That’s including stainless tables, sink, lumber, grinder, meat saw, vac sealer, dehydrator, knives, paint, etc. it’s a decent investment, but consider this. Local processor charges approx $150.00 per deer, that’s pre Covid price. I’m processing 6 deer this year, so it would cost me $900.00 in processing fees just for 2021… so the 2022 season and another 6 deer….basically pays for the entire set up, and all future years processing is free. |
|
Processed 35lbs of venison burger today, which was not bad considering i had to cut / trim the meat, set everything up for the first time today, and figure out how to use it. Trimming meat right now for tomorrow, ecpect to grind at least 50lbs tomorrow now that iv got the hang of it. Once burgers done ill cut the steaks, and do jerky last.
Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Quite a bit left to do Excuse the blood, fridge was spotless yesterday, blood is from a leaking bag, thawed these out yesterday to grind into burger. The stuff pictured is just for burger, hams are in the freezer, about 12 hams in all to cut into steaks, prob around 100 steaks alone, Probably get approx 100lbs of ground venison when im finished grinding, With about 10lbs of stew meat, 20lbs for jerky, and a buttload of steaks once i cut the hams up. I scrapped a bunch of meat i didnt think the grinder could grind, turns out it can grind most anything, so next year ill keep a lot more meat. Attached File |

My farmer buddy, the one whos chicken houses were destroyed in the tornado a few weeks ago, called me last night. He had a cub cadet side by side destroyed in the tornado, they had just put a new $400 set of 8 ply tires on it. The side by side was totally destroyed, but the tires were still perfect. I asked about them while helping them clean up debris, and they said they were gonna try to use them on their equipment, but if they didnt fit, i could have them. Figured no chance id get them.
Well, last night he called n said i could have them ! which is awesome, as my 4 wheelers tires are bald , only slime keeping air in them at this point and i was dreading paying $300 or so for new ones. Huge win ! Ill make these work, might need a adapter, or they might fit my wheels fine, find out in a few hours. There was a wrecked john deere gator as well, i might be able to get a couple tires off of, but tornado shredded the tires on the side i glanced at. Going back to the disaster zone, so ill keep a eye out for more useful lumber. There were some 6x6s i forgot to get before, try n find them today, etc. There was another chicken house that collapsed iv been meaning to salvage, but been busy, might have to reexamine that too n make time to salvage more 2x4, 2x6 and maybe even shert metal roofing for some projects, like hunting shacks / blinds etc. |

There is so much material just sitting around not being used it is ridiculous. True. Its definately a resource, and not just as neat antique lumber, but reg building materials, for normal construction, just more labor involved. Like the tires i mentioned, they would work if they tried, just easier to buy new vs hunting for a adapter, wheels, etc. Iv got more time than cash, so benefits me to scavenge like this. Wish i had made it a higher priority as i lost 10x more than i scavenged by waiting too long and it was pushed up by dozers and burned. Uggg. Just had weather, hunting season, and physical limitations and time working against me. Happy to get what i did for sure though, will save me thousands in my garage insulation project n other projects ill use the wood for. Historically... Lots of roman and other infrastructure , temples, castles, etc were lost via being scavenged over the years, with blocks, bricks, stone etc hauled away by local gov, farmers, peons etc, to build homes, and other buildings. |

The first run of burger ( 35lbs ) I ran it twice. First thru a 3/8 hole, second time a 1/16 or so, and got a fine grind, but took much longer. I liked the course grind as it’s more chunky, so the second run I only used the big hole, first run was raw meat, thru grinder, directly into the packaging. Was way faster and easier than small grind. Thought the chunky style burger would be better for soup, chili, etc.
Guess we will see. My brother kinda scared my by saying his grinder clogged constantly with membranes….so I threw away and trimmed out a LOT of stuff to prevent problems. Only to discover my grinder didn’t give a shit and ground everything easily. My meat was semi frozen which apparently makes a difference vs room temp soft meat that clogs more easily. Lesson learned. Next year I’m keeping everything, rib meat, meat with fat, leg muscles, anything with meat in it etc. prob get another 10-20lbs of meat per deer if I do that / another 60- 100lbs out of 6-8 deer. Huge increase in meat . grind all of it baby ! |

I apologize for this thread basically turning into a personal blog vs the other one that had more deals and such. Iv been more into documenting various projects than hunting for deals lately. I’ll still post deals / good information when I find them. Stay safe ! |

I’m medically retired from the military due to medically issues from my Iraq deployment, and while I have LOTS of free time on my hands, Iv also got medical issues, energy issues and sometimes motivational issues. Of course money issues as well, but I think I do pretty well with, and spread my income across a wide variety of hobbies and projects pretty well, all things considering. Some days I can physically do ANYTHING, for a full 8 hours, the next day can’t get out of bed, next I can do 4 hours of light duty maybe, next barely do 2, next three days stuck on the couch and can’t walk or drive due to dizziness , next day I’m Superman again. Extremely frustrating to be sure. My days of being a badass infantry soldier are over… now I’m more of a supply sergeant doing admin things, to support the younger guys with information, experience, and logistics like beans, bullets, bandaids. Or a trainer to teach younger people how do do things I learned about. I think I get a lot done in spite of my physical issues… just REALLY frustrating to know I should be getting 10x more done in the same time spent, and a few short years ago would have done 10x more easily, but just physically can’t now. I don’t guess I’m ready to roll over and give up on life just yet. I enjoy building things and learning. Looks like my next education will come with learning about electronics, electrical stuff and welding aluminum. Might have to buy a new mig welder as I don’t know if I can arc weld aluminum… or if my welder would blow thru it. Guess I’ll find out ! |

Quoted: I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. That sxs is gonna be awesome View Quote Thanks ! I’ll try and document it well, make it interesting and informative, with lots of pics and build it into something REALLY cool. It’s a diesel though, so I’m going for tough, highly useful and utilitarian vs fast and sporty. I think the top speed is 30mph with this diesel. So, I’ll add a rear flat aluminum diamond plate bed with removable side rails. Lots of hand and foot steps to make climbing on it , into it, off it easy. Metal roof, with roof rack and lights. Prob extend the roll cage back somehow to the rear bumper and add a hand crank boat trailer style cargo winch for loading heavy objects when your alone like deer, etc easy. Make a mini Willis jeep style front grill for the front. mount gun racks, winches, led lights, spot lights, IR lights to aid night vision usage, Od green / camo paint, a USA white invasion star to the hood and sides, prob a dash mount ham radio or marine cb radio. Add on better exhaust to make it as quiet as possible, hoping I can have it really quiet at idle, so I can put, put around at slow speed coyote hunting, etc. folding windshield, power outlets in bed for running sprayers, tools, full skid plates, protective plates for cv boots etc.. plus lots more. But do it will aluminum as much as possible, to keep it light. This side by side is a in between size / mid size, It’s wider than my 4 wheeler, but narrower than our full size Polaris ranger, so it can go places the bigger ranger can’t…. Or we can take it in rougher places that we don’t want the Polaris, as the new one will be harder to damage, no plastic to break, etc. Basically have fun and make something unique and cool. |

Heres some pics without busted ass plastic. Shows the aluminum frame tubes. I just need to make a front end out of aluminum plate, then bold it to the front end with a few supports and bolt on a front bumper, and fabricate a hood. Tie it into that black steel skidplate on the bottom. Honestly im just probably going to scrounge scrap highway aluminum signs to use for sheet metal, to keep expenses low. Those signs are made out of pretty thick aluminum, and should work great, attach with sheet metal screws for easy removal for maintenance.

I hosed off the mudd, removed plastic and put the tires back on. Looks AWESOME !
Im planning to pull out the busted plastic dash and build a new metal / aluminum jeep style dash out of 1/4" aluminum plate, and putting the guages etc into it, along with a vertical gun mount, grab handles, power port for electronics, and a big storage box / glove box to carry goodies.. Honestly, the hardest things about the project will be sourcing cheap scrap aluminum , and building the new dash , cutting the guage holes and such. the rest should be pretty easy honestly, mainly because the aluminum frame offers so much support and mounting options. Tornado damage included. 1. Basically all plastic busted. 2. Battery had hole in it from being flipped over. 3. Bed was ripped off, breaking bed hinges off and breaking off the dump bed motor shaft. 4. Right front wheel ripped off, breaking upper n lower ball joints, broke the tie rod, and pulled front axle shaft out of the hub. .. 5. Seat was totally gone. But. Everything mechanical works or seems ok so far, as does frame, etc. Basically it was busted up just enough to have owners write it off / not want to mess with repairing it, while it still being in good enough condition mechanically to make a great project vehicle im not scared to modify! Cant believe i got if fucking free ! Here she is ! Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

You should probably get some sort of bill of sale and confirm that the insurance company doesn't own it before you put money into it. It'd suck to have something come up down the road and have it seized, not be able to put tags on it if you can as some sort of limited road use vehicle in your state, or not be able to sell it if you needed to because you didn't get some sort of title or proof of ownership that would be easy to obtain right now. Heck, I know folks get loans on those kind of vehicles as well when they buy them, if you pulled into a dealer to have some specific work done that you couldn't do and it ended up seized because the previous owners didn't pay the loan off in full after they got the insurance check, you might be returning to find it repo'd.
