I was wondering if anyone makes a really well thought out pre-made bug out bag that you can simply order? I have seen allot of articles of how to build one but would like to know if any of you have purchased one and are really happy with it.

Thank you!

Not really.   That's because everyone skill sets are different and where you live (desert vs mountains vs beach vs farm land).

What I need here in Cali is much differemnt than what another person might need in Alaska.

Its always better for you to build your own based on what you need, know how to use, where you live, and can afford.

yep. this thread.

op there is so much shit in a BOB and so much of it is personal preference or area specific that you don't want to buy it off the internet.

Pajamas too. The FSA tactical outfit.

In all seriousness you will likely have two bags.  A get home bag, and then a bug out bag.

I know full well how nice it would be to buy a commercial bag off the shelf, but having put together several of my own (and in the process of refining one of them right now), I have to say you need to under take a serious needs-assessment of your area, your situation, and your plans, before you start assembling one. Yeah you need shelter, water and food, of course, but as you refine things you might change what you have in one spot, or add to/subtract from others.

Pick up a current Army Ranger manual (available even at Barnes and Noble) and take a look at the METT-T. It's overkill for us civvies, but the idea works.

As mentioned, it's too personal to think a generic bag would suffice.

clothing
shelter
food
water
FAK
tools
weapon
cash
comms

And then all the other little shit you think you'll need and have the knowledge to use. It's a LOT more about what you know and your skills than the shit you carry in a sack.

I've always viewed a BOB as kind of like a Ghillie suit, in that, in order to get the most value/use out if it, you really need to put it together yourself.  That ways it's specifically tailored to your tastes, environment, and any special requirements.

I think everybody needs to look into a trauma bag and a little bit of know how on basic first aid
dont be suprised when you actually have to use it.
got caught once without one... never again
second time I was a little better prepared

I will add for wound care I like Hibicleans wipes... they are pretty fool proof in using
can use with water or without.

FPNI.  What if you find a bugout bag that has 2" gauze pads instead of 3" gauze pads, but everything else you need is perfect?

It is so much easier to build one's own bag instead of trying to sort through a metric fuckton of bags in order to figure out the best bag for one, and then still have to buy other stuff to put in it... and not use the stuff one does not want.

I'm super sensitive to fragrance products. Like, migraine level sensitive. It's counter productive to me to clean myself up and cripple myself with a migraine for the next day. So I try to make sure that anything I get doesn't include "fragrance" "perfume" "or parfum" on the ingredients list. Even some things labeled "unscented" will have a masking fragrence in them.

Sometimes life is at a point that time is truly money and just buying one to get started is more practical than going months off&on researching a topic to get nowhere. Just get one & get started may be the correct answer for some people. May not be for you, but may have to be the option for others.
