We are in the beginning stages of putting in a new pool and we are trying to decide between a liner pool or a concrete pool. Any pros or cons for those that have one and if you had it to do over what would you change or add to yours now? Prices are going to be based on where you live and what you install I understand.....I live in Oklahoma. Thanks in advance.

Get the concrete, I had a vinyl liner previously and you will end up restretching it occasionally.  Not a big deal, but just a pain in the ass when it comes out of the seam.

Since you're digging up the yard, you should build a bunker too.  Maybe it could be a swim in entrance, that would be cool.

lol.  A nice room, adjacent to the pool. Just put a spigot through the wall.

Get a nice above ground pool enjoy it, and when you are sick of fooling with it in 10yrs or so. Take it down and throw it away.

I thought about this but after you get what you want in an above ground pool, you might as well spend a little more and get the in-ground

Concrete if you can afford it. Vinyl liners leak and have to be replaced.
Had to maintain an inground vinly liner pool as a kid. It leaked more than a few times.
Eventually, it had to be replaced when the folks sold the house.
Had to buy winterizing chemicals, cover it, and pump the water off the cover during the winter months.
It sucks having to maintain a pool in the middle of the winter...This was in NJ... Pools are a big pain in the ass to maintain.

My parents have a pool at their house in FL. Never swim in it. It is a big money pit, as they have to constantly clean it and buy chemicals for it.
The only cool thing is that this pool is year around...no need for a pool cover in Palm Beach

We have a Doughboy 28 foot round above ground pool with a 7 foot deep end on one half of the pool. We love it and usually have two to fifteen kids a day in it. I dont know if you have priced the in ground pools yet because the inground will run around 20 grand compared to the 3000.00 we have in our pool and like walttx said when you are tired of it and when the kids are off to college take it down and fill in the hole and turn it into a putting green.

Liner.  My father use to install them and he installed his in 81 or 82 and he is on his third liner.  I think a new liner now runs about a 1000.00.  All pools require maintance and upkeep, but it is much better now than 20+years ago.  Keeping up a pool is alot like cleaning a rifle, keep up the maintenace and its not to bad, let it go and it becomes a bear.  In climates where you have freezing, drain it down a couple of feet below normal, drain ALL pipes and filter-tanks, cover with a QUALITY cover, pump the cover off every couple of weeks and come spring it will look just like it did when you covered it last fall.  If budget is an issue don't forget the price of water and electricity.  The most common problem we saw with leaks by other installers (we neverhad a single one) was they built the pool to deep/big and over-streched the liners.  The lazy installers do this so it makes it easy to remove the wrinkles from the liner which makes installation quick and easy.
