[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Bumpfiring (Page 1 of 2)

Another thread got me thinking about how little I hear about bumpfiring on here since the ammo $ spike. How many people still bumpfire at he range.....or at home for those living in LA or the sticks?

Here is me 5 years ago. Performing aimed bump firing of a 45ACP AR upper.
That is 10 rounds. all hit center of mass at 10 yards. 7 round burst, a single shot, and a 2fer. Right click, save as. I don't do it often. Mostly because people crowd around me to see my full auto and I have to spend so much time explaining how the heck I am doing it. To those who say it is nothing but unaimed from the hip ammo wasting. Suck me. You have no idea what you are talking about. |

From my personal experience, I've found that bumpfiring is a great way to get the attentions of a large number of sheriff deputies, a SWAT team and a sheriff helicopter to come and spend several hours of interrogation, weapons explanation, and criminal background checks. |

Sounds like there is a good story to be told. |
| I'll only do it if were shooting on private land, and with people who have never heard of the concept before. Sort of a fun trick to throw in at the end of a shooting session with newbies, I guess. Usually its only one box of ammo, I.E. 20 rounds in a 30 round mag, but I havent done it since the .223 shortage...... |

to bump fire, you put your finger on the trigger.
Instead of pulling the trigger, you hold the hand guard and pull the rifle away from you (which causes the trigger to release. The recoil forces the rifle back, but since you are pulling the rifle away from you the process repeats itself. It will look and sound like full auto fire. It can be be dangerous. |

Yes, I have done it. Also have fanned a SAA clone. And made use of the lack of a disconnector on my Norc 1897 clone (back when I had it).
Did it all "because I could". No big deal to me. I'd *much* rather run through a USPSA course and shoot off 30 rounds of 9x19 with my Beretta than bumpfire 30 rounds of 5.56 with one of my ARs. If you want to bumpfire, that's your perogative. I have absolutely nothing against it in any way, shape, or form (assuming that you are being SAFE about it) - I would just rather spend my time using my firearms for other types of shooting. |

I'm not a big fan of bumpfiring it just seems like something civilians do to try to impress me after they find out I'm in the army
This is the normal banter i get from friends my friends bring with us D-bag civvie: DID THEY TEACH YOU THIS IN THE ARMY!!!??!! commence civilian bumpfiring after the guy blows his load i say ME: No. bump firing is for mall ninjas |

| I saw it on YouTube, had never heard of it (one year ago), tried it, it worked, that's it. inaccurate and potentially dangerous (attracts the wrong attention, everyone wants to try it, less than full control (often, I know some do it really well)). It does make a soothing sound, though...like stepping in a tub full of butter on purpose. |
