I have a girlfriend that is in need of bunk beds for her boys.  Her mom has cancer and only has about a year to live so she is moving her in with her family.  The boys are 5 and 3 and they will have to move in to the same room.  If you know of anyone who has bunk beds to donate or sell for cheap, please post on this thread or IM me.  They are in the Dallas metroplex.  Thanks in advance!

While I do read here, I rarely post here.  But this story is touching.  I have an option for you.

I'll buy all the wood and mattresses and boxsprings.  I'll build the frames to her dimentions and ship the wood and fasteners for free.  She'll have to put it together, but that is EASILY done with a wrench and a screwdriver and a little help.  Once together, I'll send her the money for the mattresses and boxsprings she'll need to buy locally (because shipping them would be WAY too expensive).  I'll include assembly directions, of course, but anyone can put together my designs.

Free bunk beds, made specifically to her dimentions for the kids and the room.

If interested, ask her to draw me up something simple with the design, height, width, and length dimentions she'd like on a piece of graph paper.  Nothing fancy, just a rough sketch.  If she wants a dinosaur or race car theme, for example, she just needs to sketch something like that.  Make SURE she sends me the mattress dimentions, as I need to design the rails around the frame and stiles to meet those dimentions.  The frames MUST be designed AROUND the mattress size she wants, or it won't work.

I'll use her sketch, draw up a set of prints, send them to her for approval, and can have it built and delivered in about 2 weeks to maybe 3 weeks after she approves the plans and design.

Please tell her to make it as complex as she'd like it - I am a fairly decent furniture builder, so there isn't much she can imagine I can't do.  If she is going to have bunks for the kiddos, why not make them as nice as possible to last many, many years that the kids will love?

Tell her it is a Christmas present in the name of the Lord.  That's what it is.

I will accept ZERO money, and will be VERY insulted if she offers.

Granted, she won't get them real soon (figure a month total); but she'll get better quality, the design and finish of her choice, beds formed to grow with the kids that will last many years, and can give them as a Christmas present to them.  I can incorporate toy boxes, ladders, scrolled patterns, drawers, storage shelves...  Just about anything she can think of they would like.  Why not make it into a Christmas present to theme their room?

Please have her fax her design ideas to 623-321-5775 (no cover sheet needed, I'll know what they are) - a fax machine to send is available at Kinkos or similar for about 10 cents a page if she doesn't have access to one.  Along with her drawings, she will need to include the wood of her choice and the finish she desires (paint, color, light stain, dark stain, natural oil, etc).  The more details she provides the more I can customize the piece(s) for her.

I would have PM'd this, but the character limit would not have let me.  Please let me know as soon as possible, and I'll get going on it just the moment I get her concepts.
