Any suggestions?  I have lots of bandwidth and would like to just set up a VPN to a cloud server.  I need some permissions based access but nothing super granular.  This office is a long ways away and I don't want to buy equipment and have to have someone manage it.  I'll have IT staff, but I'm tired of fighting issues.

Need more info. Offsite for backups, for regional access, national or worldwide, price an issue, how much storage, do you want an actual server?

How much storage are you looking for?  also what type of data are you talking about.

Have a 10Gb connection.  Only connecting to one office but may have one off site person.  They already have a VPN to the office.  Hosting QuickBooks, office documents,  maybe some video.  Will be accessed frequently.  Need probably 1TB.  Cost is secondary to performance.

I'm a consultant for a long time acquaintance and I'm supposed to long distance the new IT guy, whoever that ends up being.  Last few didn't work out...  so I'm hoping to make things simpler.

Maybe.   Haven't used Google and 365 minimally.  Not sure if I can set up a VPN to the storage and how permissions work.  Their pricing seemed difficult to follow, but if they have what I need,  I can deal.

I would go with Office 365 and One Drive for Business.  It doesn't seem like you really need something more complicated.

Azure is cheap. Can set up a VPN and do private networks etc.

Where is the VPN need coming from?  Do you want them to have access to data in the cloud or the home office network resources?

Course if the price is a problem you could setup an onsite NAS (synology or QNAP).  For less than a grand you could setup a storage setup that would more than meet your needs.

They are very security conscious.   Only 15 or 20 people but they are a private equity firm and there's lots of money involved.  Storage of banking and finance data.

Any cloud storage solution such as Sharesync offers at rest and in transit encryption as well as remote wipe, SOC2 reporting and full audit trails.  It also fully integrates with AD.  And it's cheap.

Azure is your answer.

You can setup several types of storage and secure it however you want. Think of it as an extension of your offices infrastructure.

I can all be spun up quickly and for what you need it isn't expensive.

If you need more info we send me a PM. We can get you setup a lot cheaper than some of the others.

All of the large cloud storage providers are similar.  It is a great deal for a small office. No data protection or disaster recovery needed.  There are many choices of advanced features with cloud storage.  Several of the providers offer unlimited storage with a monthly bandwidth cap.
