Our office has "casual Fridays" every week. In my experience, folks here understand neither our employee dress code nor the concept of "business casual," and I wondered if this affliction was as widespread as I suspect it might be. So... How many of you have "casual days" at your offices, do you think this a good or a bad thing, and do people take advantage? (i.e., "Give 'em an inch & they'll take a mile!") Just curious... |

Work for a law firm, we went casual M-F about 6 years ago. Best thing we ever did. We did have the rare person show up in leather pants or pajamas. They looked like pajamas to all of us, even the slippers. ETA: I forgot the lady that was a manager in our office-she looked like one of the Solid Gold Dancers. Gold tunic top, gold spandex, gold slipper type shoes and a (shit you not) thin gold head band!!! Oh yeah, she was a bitch too. She moved to DC where she belongs..... |
We had a crack down once after people start wearing pajamas to work. There was one person who would dress as a woman every day |

Are those standard issue ammo-fort casual wear? Howls, ice-Wolf |
Okay, there must be a story, so I'll be the first to ask. How do these and the fortbuilding go together? |
I could hand them on the ammo cans, since I didnt have somewhere to lay them out |
| I wear Anchor Blue loose fitting khakis everyday they are loose fitting, comfortable, and look nice. Monday through Thursday I always wear an oxford cloth long sleeved shirt. On Friday it is a casual day, but I still wear an oxford cloth shirt half the time. The other half, I wear an untucked short sleeve polo type shirt. I work in a civil engineering office. The CAD people aren’t seen much outside their area so they usually dress reeeeeally casual anyway. All of the management types dress professionally M-T and business casual on Friday. |
| I work for a Fortune 100 company and dress is dictated by your placement in the organization. If you work in the shop it's jeans and t shirts, everything in between the hourly employees and mid/upper management is dress casual. Khaki's and button up shirts or polo's are the norm. If you show up to work with nice slacks a tie and your shiney shoes everyone asks how your interview went. |

We are business casual all the time. Our definition of "business casual" is a bit more loose than others. For example, jeans are acceptable under our dress code. Specifically prohibited are combat boots. I wear my Danners to work on snowy days and then change to "regular" shoes in my office.I don't think our code is enforced to the letter. I've seen people walking around in leather pants. Sports jerseys are sometimes seen, but very rarely.Five years ago I had to wear a suit every day to work. I like the business casual dress code much better. ![]() |

Blue jeans, flannel, whatever. Or you can dress in slacks and tie everyday. About the only rules we use is to clean it up when we have formal meetings with the customer, and I follow that rule when I travel to see vendors. Then there is our trans-sexual in progress. He copies his hair color and style from one of the female manufacturing engineers, and copied the blouses worn by a Materials & Processes engineer; the day they both wore the same blouse, the shop took up a collection so she could go buy a blouse at lunchtime, and that just made her totally pissed off. After that, she brought a spare to work everyday. Talk about a dick - wait that's not right, at least not for much longer. |

Our company is typically casual all the time. I'm talking shorts/jeans and t-shirts. Certain people may wear business dress or business casual according to their own wishes, but that's up to the individual. I like Fridays because the hot redhead lawyer that works for our company usually wears jeans that look almost like they're painted on. The rest of the week isn't too bad, as it's skirts with side slits and knee-high boots. |

Sports jerseys are sometimes seen, but very rarely.
But, I don't have to deal with the public.
