| Does anyone still use CB Radios other than, maybe, truckers? |
| I have several. It was a big hobby of mine. I also have an A-99 on top of the garage. I have a cheap uniden in the car with a wilson 500, and I usually keep a handheld in the car in case I'm going to caravan with someone, I can give it to them for car to car communication. Makes long trips go by a lot quicker. |

I keep a Midland handheld with an external Radio Shaft mag mount antenna, and a cigarette lighter power adapter in my truck. It's been very handy on road trips to keep abreast of traffic conditions. Unfortunately Channel 19 is populated by retards who love foul language, to which I prefer not to expose my kids, so I'll turn it on to get traffic info then switch it back off. I have my amateur radio license, so I also have a Yaesu VX-5RS 6M/2M/70cm ham rig. Looking to put a better ham rig in the truck one of these days. When conditions are right, I've hit my club's 2M repeater from about 40 miles away using only 5W of power. My 2M/70cm antenna is a Diamond MR-77A mag mount. |
