Can I copy multiple folders full of files to a cd-rw or cd-r? How about a folder full of other folders full of files? Will this work and will I be able to get into al the folders and files?
I have hundreds of floppy disks of photos I want to consolidat on to one cd but have them grouped if possible for ease of finding them later when needed.

Yep, you can organize them on the cd just like you can organize them on a floppy or a hard drive.

You can do it yes. There is some option though about the type of cd you are burning which will dictate what types of file/folder names you can have. It should automatically rename them if necessary(ie. to long) which isnt really a problem but could make it a little harder to find things.

I already have one cd with some files on it and when i went back later to try and make a folder to put them in it said the disk is full and cant do it.
Do I need to make the folders first and organize all the files as I want them on my hd then burn them to the cd?
I am using adaptec creat cd

Ahhhhh, that's the problem.

You already made the CD, and since it's complaining, chances are it's finalized which means the table of contents have been burned and the CD can't be expanded on.

You need to do a 'multisession' disc to be able to keep writing to the CD.  You can't finalize it and until it's finalized you won't be able to read the CD in any CD player other than a burner...well at least you shouldn't be able to, that's what the TOC is for.

EDIT:  Or it's just that the CD you have really IS full.  If you pop the CD in and rt-click on the CD drive and hit properties it will tell you how much space is used.  CDs are typically 700MB so if you've got 680MB on CD, then yeah it's full.

Try this:

Make a new folder somewhere in your hard drive.

Put EVERYTHING you want in there. Make sure it's not bigger than what'll fit on your CD

Burn that folder, or all of it's contents, to a CD. Windows XP is very easy to burn with (unless you want to do music files, it's  not as easy then).

Most of my files are photos and videos.
I have spent hours and hours naming them and placing them in folders inside of one central folder so I can try to copy the main folder and all of its contents to the cd later. I hope this works, then I will have a few hundred blank disks to use with the cam again and the one cd-r will take up less space on the desk too.
