I cross posted this in TX Hometown since that's where I am getting the license, but I figured this would get more traffic.

So I'm gonna get my CHL in a few weeks and I'm curious about fingerprinting. It's nothing that will stop me from getting the license, but I'm curious.

I have been fingerprinted multiple times over the past several years for employment, professional licensing, a CHL in another state, federal internships, ect.

In November I was processing a deer on a meat slicer for jerky and I got impatient. I took the safety guard off of the meat slicer and after a few minutes it happened.

My pinky finger slipped into the slicer and I slicered off a good chunk of fingerprint.

It has healed now and some of the fingerprint has grown back in, but it is noticeably different.

Do you think they compare the fingerprints that I submit to the ones that I have submitted in the past? Do you think it will cause any delay if they see a difference like that?

No i think a scar would make you easier identify.

That's funny. The first time I was printed was by a U.S. Marshall for an internship. He said that I should never commit a crime (or at least wear gloves) because my prints were so "prominent" or something. Maybe he was just blowing smoke.

I just hit my finger tips with an orbital sander before my printings.

You'll be run against criminal prints and unsolved latents.

Assuming there is no match there - they do not match against former Applicant prints.

Your new scar is irrelevant.

Your going to get charged with "altering your fingerprints" and that's a felony. You better get a note from a doctor or your looking at some fed time.
It's just like altering a federal document once you have submitted it. Sucks to be you.

I have no idea if they will compare the prints, but if you think it might be an issue I would include a note and explain why your pinky print is different.
