It was an absolute total surprise!  Well, retirement is on hold (again!).  I took the long, scenic route getting here but the trip was well worth it.  Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way!

Congrats

BTW, where did you work on 53's? I worked them over at Alconbury/Mildenhall. COMM/NAV. Was the last airframe I worked, came stateside in 98 and have been off the flightline (turning a wrench that is) every since. Got into AMC and the TALCE world for 8.5 years, and now am on my last assignment working in the missile fields.

I worked the Pave's at Hurby...Nov 88-Jan 93.  I was Comm/Nav also...started in 834 CRS and ended in the 20th SOS.  I was a SSgt then.  Do you know Cory Nygard?  Gary Ward?
I think at the time we had the best Comm/Nav shop in the USAF.  Great bunch of people.  I lefy Hurby and spent 8 years at Andrews in the 89th.  Followed that with 4 years in JSTARS and 2 years in the SOF/CSAR SPO here at Robins.  I'm now awaiting word on an assignment

Cory Nygard, Name sounds very familiar, I want to say SNCO.

The only people I remember from the Hurby troops who did manning assists are Bucky (had a big buck tattoo on his back), and a "couple" female crewchief and engine troops.

Looks like 1 March or 1 April before my line # comes up.  Anyone at Robins AFB at that time will have beer (on me, of course)!

Cory was in QA, MSgt I think when he was in England.  If it's the same Bucky...Comm/Nav, kinda skinny, from Georgia.

Well way to go Chief.  Next time I swing through Robins, I'll have to drop you a line.  I don't know the next time I have to run by the program office, but I'll try to drop in on a few folks over there.  Is Gunny's still there outside gate 5?

No, Gunny's is closed.  There is a new establishment in its place...serves breakfast and such.

I used to be in the 116th...we may know some of the same people.

Damn, we always went over there and grabbed breakfast about once a week.  I was there in the CE squadron under Maj. Bird.  I was there in Dave Baxter's shop.

Didn't know anyone in CE.  I was in the 93rd ACW when we combined with the Ga. ANG.  I ran the Comm/Nav shop in AMXS.  Did you know Joe Rhodes or Brian Dietz?

Never got over to that side much.  I left shortly after the merger to crosstrain into Combat Communications at the 283rd CBCS at Dobbins.  After I made E-5 and put my time in, I left in the downsizing for the civilian sector, and it happens that my program office (like countless others) is there on Warner Robins.

I was always in awe of you "Zebras."
