It actually is VERY different.

It also has nothing to do with the fact that this EO doesn’t comply with Constitutional law.

It will be overturned, rightfully so, and then you’ll complain about activist judges.

FLASHBACK: Biden also changed White House press pool, cutting off more than 440 reporters' credentials

In 2023, more than 440 reporters lost press credentials after President Joe Biden’s White House modified its rules for eligibility for permanent passes.

Credentialed White House press members dropped from 1,417 members to 975 members after the White House unveiled new standards requiring an annual renewal of hard passes, Politico reported in 2023. Journalists without hard passes were still authorized to apply for day passes to the White House.

The Biden White House policy was launched in May 2023 and required reporters to prove employment with "an organization whose principal business is news dissemination" and show that they have "accessed the White House campus at least once during the prior six months for work, or have proof of employment within the last three months to cover the White House."

You’re right, they aren’t.  I don’t think I said there were or even supported them with anything I said.  Yeah, media has a problem with bias.  They all do and have for a long time.

Back in the day (old fart speaking) the news was a 30 minute show every evening at 6pm. That was just the news. The problem with ALL news networks now is that it’s 24/7/365 news AND commentary. That usually works out to 1% news and 99% commentary. If you have one simple news story, the commentary between MSNOW and FOX is night and day.

This is why Fox News doesn't like the ban targeting CNN and others because news organizations bitched when Obama tried to ban Fox News from one event.

Exactly, they both have done it so there is no real solution yet.  Maybe they should do these via Zoom. I mean there are no laws on how often or how long or how many questions or how brief the answers have to be.  Trump seems pretty available for these, moreso than most Presidents.  Besides, there or not, the stories will never do more than reflect the underlying contempt.  The adjectives have been selected.

What's so special about these propaganda outlets that they deserve special privileges over any other outlet?

They're certainly not as relevant as they were 20 years ago, but even so, the White House has always decided who they hand out press credentials to.

If these leftist muckrakers deserve access by simply existing, then every so-called journalist should be able to attend as well.

No, choices are made as to who can attend, because there's not enough room for everyone, and the president has decided to take out the woke trash. If another leftist tyrant gets elected, it can choose to exclude Fox News or any other outlet that they've tried to, and often succeeded in, cancelling before. It's only a problem this time, because it's THEM.

What happens when government (provably) asks corporations to shut down free speech?  Or do you think it is inherently unprovable.  Wouldn't government asking FB to censor speech against the official covid narrative be a violation of civil rights?

The guiding light of these press conferences is the transparency of gate-keeping DUE PROCESS.  One set of rules for everyone.  Of course for these conferences to be viable there needs to be some order and decorum, good faith dialog, not name-calling, innuendo, false claims etc.  Trump will never be able to avoid headlines like "USAID policy reversals will kill millions of poor people in Africa". But I think he's fine calling out false headlines and fake news.  Remember, lots of Presidential EO's come about from lack of appropriate congressional action.
