Okay, so I was bored the other night and went to some "explicit" sites.

Now my computer is completely screwed. It freezes up, shuts down randomly, and just acts wierd.

Unfortunatly, I know more about guns than computers. Is there anything I can do to restore it to it's proper working status?

If you have antivirus, make sure its updated, and run a scan.

If you dont have antivirus, download, install, and run this:

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Download and install these 2 programs too:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

Finally, if youre using Internet Explorer, stop.  Download and use this instead:

Get out the recovery discs that came with it.
Put them in the drive.
Turn it off.
Turn it back on.
Follow the instructions.

That ought to do it.

In future, have damn good anti-virus and anti-malware before going onto porn sites.

Pritty much just surfing the internet period will jack yo shit up if you arnt protected.

Appreciate the replys, I'll see if I can dig out those discs.

The last time I started it up after a random shutdown it wouldn't let me log on with my profle...so i can't access Norton, which I did have at the time.

just remember if you use the restore disks you will lose all your data and your computer will be just like when you bought it

first they tell us that "doing that" will ake you go blind, counter it with carrots that are good for the eyesite.
Now we go to pr0n sites, and get a computer STD, counter it with anti-bug-ware.....

For future reference, if you in the mood for some good time without a lot of hassel. search for forums dedicated to that kind of material. You get decent stuff without any viruses. Ive been doing that for a while now with no anti-virus and malware programs and havnt had a problem in over a year.

I know, but it might and it's easy for him to do. If it doesn't work then we can start on more complicated stuff with him.

Doesn't work sometimes.  I've played with viruses/trojans that inject stuff into the sys restore files so when you restore you still have the problem.

Want a pretty much guaranteed (usually) fix?

fdisk the drive and remove all partitions (only do this if you have a restore disk and it does NOT need the recovery partition of your computer's drive), then recreate them.  After that, re-install your OS and go from there.

While you're at it, you could install a Linux distro so you don't have to worry so much about viruses, trojans, spyware, etc...
