OK, so every time I watch COP's it seems like the cop with the camera man has carte blanche to take over a collar from whom ever actually caught the perp. To me this just seems wrong TV show or not. They take the credit from the officers who did the work to the cop their riding with. It just seems ridiculous, & wrong. If it were me who made the collar I would be ticked to have the 6th or 7th cop to show up take over my perp so the show goes smoother.

What think you about this?

Yeah, I've often thought that is totally "riducles".

I'm willing to bet that the cop that  got the hands on the guy originally could be saying "Hey, get the guy with the camera man here!  Now he can do the paperwork!"

There's enough arrests out there to be made, it doesn't hurt to give up a few.

I've seen that before, when the person was in total compliance & thought, man I would kill that damn dog if it was bighting me while I was in compliance. I personally don't equate killing a dog with killing an officer. I don't mean to open a can of worms, but no one will ever convince me that a cop dog is equal with a cop human. It's just a trained animal that bites. Even if the officer in charge of it loves it, it is still just a dog.

The law is not on your side. Killing a police dog is legally the same crime as killing a cop. As a protected class, expect stiffer penalties when being tried and hung. I mean, when going through the criminal justice system.

Agreed.  It is a tool or a piece of equipment.  I have heard opinions that killing a police dog is not tantamount to killing a police officer, but IS killing a police officer.

Oh yeah, I realize this is true. I just don't think it's right. Maybe a charge of distroying public property, or some such thing, but murdering a police officer just isn't right either.

Oh, ok. We agree then.
