Columbia River Knife & Tool gets a big...........

+1

..............a couple of years ago I bought a CRKT M16-03Z which I carried and used daily. About two months ago I fliped the bade open and accidently smacked the back of the blade near the tip against a pine picnic table. The liner lock FAILED and I keep my knife shaving sharp I almost lost a finger.

I sent CRKT an email and they told me to send the kinfe into them and they would look at it under their lifetime waranty.

I got a package in the mail today, they send me a NEW M16-03Z

Refreshing I tell you

They make knives with incredible quality.  Glad to hear they support their products if they do fail.

I think " incredibile " might be a little too strong , but still a decent knife .  I broke the tip on
mine . That is the one thing they will not warranty and I understand why . It snapped
 WAY too easily though .

I'm on my 2nd M16-00K series knife. Both are excellent knives for their price. I will probably buy another when this one gives up.

TIP: Purple locktite really helps keep the screws for the pocket clip in place.

I don't trust their linerlocks for just that reason, too bad because I love my Arfkom m16.

I've got one and I really like it.  But, are they all made in Taiwan?

I carry mine almost daily, and I wish I could buy about 10 of them.

I have alot of their knives the m16-03z is my little knife and my daily carry is a m21-14sf, it was the m16-14sf. My buddy throws his and stickes em into trees, fences and they'll take the abuse, he's been doing it for years.

how did it fail, did it break off or something?

If the liner lock failed, why would you want to carry another one? I'd be looking for something of a bit better quality.

I carry a Strider personally, but whenever I buy a knife as a gift for a friend, I buy them a CRKT M16 or M21.  If someone asks me for a good knife that won't break the bank, I recommend CRKT.  The only things I don't like about them are the tip-down carry and the fact that they aren't made in the USA.  Other than that, they are great knives.

The CRKT knives (at least the m16 series) have a known defect in the liner lock.  I had one start failing several years ago.  The replacement knife I received had a secondary lock that would lock the liner lock and keep it from failing.   Not exactly my ideal,  but it works.  I ended up giving the new replacement to my brother,  who has carried it daily since then without incident.   I ended up with a Benchmade striker,  which I recently lost

MyCRKY failed also It is the Crauford Falcon model. I called, and they said send it back and they sent me a new on. The liner lock on the new one is a lot stiffer and works better than the old one.

I'm thinking that they had a defect and found a solution.

I have 3 of their knives. Haven't had one break yet but it's good to know they stand behind their products.

If they were only made in the US.

Oh well. My Spydercos aren't either, and I love those knives.
