ETA: not that it is bigger than that Russian monstrosity, but that it is our biggest. |

C5 is a pile of shat- constant breaking- if it squats, its broke. 17 is a nice plane. |

Jumping from a C 17 is infinitely better than jumping from a C 130 too. C17 is a Cadillac compared to other jump platforms. For me, it depends on where you are at. If I'm a jumping JM, or #1 jumper, I'd rather be in a 130. Hanging out of a C-17 doesn't turn me on like hanging from a 130. Everything else...yeah, C-17 all the way. |

We had a C-17 land at Peter O Knight Airport by mistake. The main runway has the same heading as MacDill, but it's a quarter of the length 3500 feet. Good thing no one else was trying to land where they were supposed to at that exact same time. The C17 can stop pretty fast too, the guy in the video obviously has little knowledge of its capabilities. |

Looks like early morning? lowest temp for performance. Sucked the gear up quick too. Hope the original flight crew didn't get hammered too bad. |

The cargo bay cross section is just a little larger than a C-5. I was impressed by the integrated cargo handling, it's really slick. Anyway, the C-17 is in the same class as the DC-3 and C-130, a truely great airplane. Barney is a great airplane it just lacks in the fuel department if it isn't an ER model. I build 4 - 8 cargo missions a day for -17s and -5s. The -5 can take a shitton of cargo but... they break. A lot. C17s are much more reliable. |

The C-17's size shut down the bug smasher airfield, so it had to leave ASAP. They offloaded a bunch of stuff to get the weight down, and then flew it to MacDill, five miles away. And yes, it was a different crew. One that was not under investigation. |
