You pirate!

Wow - what a shocker:  A cable company treating a customer poorly - maybe someone should alert the media of this singular, freak occurance.

Digital cable is teh suck.

For 14 years I got it all for free - everything - analog ruled.

There's just no way to pirate this digital stuff.

Those were some good times back in the '90's - stickin' it to TimeWarner (those fucks)...

You are asking for cable help with a name like that.

Have you tried unplugging your box, waiting a minute and plugging it back up?

Have you paid the bill? When bills aren't paid they shut off the cable box and you get a message similar to that.

That sucks, time to wait infinitely on the phone for someone to say they'll send a technician on Tuesday of next month.  Then the guy will reschedule 3 times and then just show up on Saturday afternoon ready to work.

Depending on what provider(and what box, Im guessing you have  Scientific Atlanta) you have could mean a couple things.

Good things to know about this - your box is in 2-way communication with their system or it wouldnt prompt that message. It would show the basic cable or just have "Advanced services unavailable"

Bad things - usually means you havent paid you bill up to date.

Even though you might have paid it their system probably doesnt reflect that. Or you dont have enough services to let it run. Meaning something along the lines of 'you have two digital boxes and they only provisioned enough services for one'

Just call them.... having a box show that doesnt mean there is a problem with the box or with the feed coming into your home. It means you have not paid your bill or they dont have your services setup properly. Unless of course you are on a different system than what I have dealt with for a couple years.

Do you have a local Charter office you can call?  Your set-top box has been de-authorized.  Probably a clerical error if you aren't late on your bill.

I can't believe cable companies are STILL catching up to the idea that they have competition.

Call the number to cancel your service.

Customer service may suck, but marketing is catching on.  I have just switched from Direct TV, because I'm getting Digital Cable Bronze package with HD and Cable internet for about $70.00.  It's normally over $100 bucks.  I'll switch to something else in a year, too much competition not to

You've been locked out.

Customer service will have to "ping" your box (yeah I know) with a signal to turn it back on.

I work at the world's most violent television network - AFRTS. Almost everyone of our customers has a weapon of some sort and as we lose decoders in the database we shut them off so that the customer will call and give us their data to make sure that the decoder hasn't fallen into the wrong hands. We have 7/24 hours contacts here in California and business hour ones in Germany, Korea, and Japan.

WTF?

Maybe I'm dense - not getting that.
