When looking at pictures of other people's gear I see a lot of Calico Jack patch's.

What does it signify?

So is there a reason or did one guy think another guys gear looked cool and did it. Then it snowballed?

Not looking to flame anyone....just wondering why.

Also, mercs in Biafra used to wear a skull and crossbones on their shoulders.

I'm gettin' one for my Blackhawk vest because a)something needs to go on that velcro thing b)it's cool c)I'm descended from pirates.

I'm no expert, but I believe it is/was a Navy SEAL team thing, that caught on and now adorns equipment belonging to everyone from the real deal to the GHEYest airsoft poser!

The shoes are made by Merrell. They are more of a hiker style than a tennis shoe. They were issued to the SEAL Teams for a while. They are VERY comfortable. The Merrell's are popular with SOF.

I'm familiar with the original pirate from the 18th century, I did a google search before posting. I was wondering what he had to do with gear queers in the 21st century.
