I am looking for a new strap for my camera.  I would love to find something that has some of the same types of features as a lot of the rifle slings out there (quick disconnects at the camera mounting points, padded but not bulky, qwick adjustable slider like the Blue Force Gear slings).

Are there any options out there that incorporate some or all of these features?

Thanks

I use Tarmrac straps.  I think that all of them have what you are looking for.

I've been using one for a while now on my DSLR, very happy with it.

I got a Crumpler Industry Disgrace for my D800. It's really comfortable even with big lenses.

I bought some metal clips from Lowes to make it qd.

These thingies have a kinda 'QD' system, and it's easy to change the configuration if you want.  I haven't obtained one yet, but plan to before my vacay this year.

I still use a Blackrapid. But I need to make my own Arca-Swiss QR since both my bodies have RRS Arca-Swiss L-brackets on them and I'm having to (un)thread my Blackrapid fastener from the L-plate whenever I want to mount up.

I use BlackRapid but the little round thingie on the bottom is a pain in the ass if you want to set the camera on the ground. It's got the single point thing going on though which takes away the annoying need to keep your shoulders shrugged all the time.

I've been using the Op/Tech Classic and have been impressed with how comfortable it is.  Best $20 upgrade I've made.

+1 for Echo Niner, I've been using their Original Camera Strap for about 7 months with no complaints.
They ship fast, I've placed an order on Monday evening and had product in hand by Thursday.

I think there are more than a few guys out there using the BlackRapid camera attachment and a single point sling.  My fear with the BR isn't the camera attachment, but that weak clip they use on the strap-side.  I know they are pretty good, but I also know at least a few of them have let go, and left some camera gear on the asphalt.

I've been very happy with the Optech I'm using.  However, I'm concerned about how much weight the connectors and buckles can take.  As a result I have a Carry Speed on the way.

As a bit of an aside... does anyone know of a source for a... well I guess a ring that you can screw into the tripod mount of a camera?  I prefer to set up my strap with one point on the righthand sling loop, and one point on the bottom, but my camera doesn't have any way to do so.  I don't want a whole plate deal, just a loop.  I'm gonna get the sling system I posted above, and it will be stupid easy to move one of the mounts to the bottom, or to the side, or wherever.

Will the Blackrapid Fastnr's work? Not sure if the loop on those will be too small for whatever you're going to run through the loop/ring.

Thank you. This would be perfect for me.
Now I have a project tonight, but I hate lanyard knots.

You can do this with Optech gear and an a fastenr from Black Rapid.

That looks PERFECT!  Thanks for the tip, everyone who suggested it!  I'll order one soon!

I did something like that with paracord, but used some quick disconnect things I got for paracord bracelets, so I could disconnect my strap if I wanted to.

Since my bodies and big lenses have arca style plates, I run a black rapid strap with the FastenR connected to a Kirk QR clamp.  So I can just quickly connect it to my bodies or lenses.

This works great . I carry a gripped D700 w/ 24-70 and 70-200 with this setup

Once you carry a camera in single point sling to one side, you will never want it conventional on your chest

I put a bit of bicycle inner tube on the hooks to prevent inadvertent release . Call me paranoid but I am hanging over $4K of the strap

Problem is MS3 hook is a bit too big for the FastenR3

I opened one of my R3s up but there is too little movement for the MS3 hook

One solution I am trying now that seem to work great is to run a swivel shackle in between.

I use a Blackrapid tripod Fastenr (link) with an OpTech Utility Strap sling (link). I put some locktite on the fastenr because I'm paranoid. I like that it lets you have a tripod plate with the the sling mount - really convenient.

Not to jack the OP's thread, but what do you guys think of these devices?  Practically the same cost, with some weather protection, and storage.  Plus a little stealthier than hanging a couple of grand of gear for people to see.  I guess they are worn in conjunction with supplied belt.

When I flip into portrait, my paracord can get in the way. This is a good idea.

I run a carabiner on a belt loop to hold my camera when not in use.

Not a fan for a few reasons.

1. If you also put a strap on the camera it gets very cumbersome to get it in/out of the case.
2. It isn't nearly as convenient as it looks to get in/out.  Especially if you also put a lens cap on it when it goes in. When you are in a hurry, it is like drawing a firearm from a cheap holster.
3. When you do pull it out, if there is no strap on the camera, you just lost all the protection of the case and the strap.
4. If I am going to carry a case, I am going to carry at least 1 spare lens.

They are great for having it in that case and throwing it in your backpack or duffel, but that is about I would try to do with that.

Yeah, Blue Force Gear.  It's not like the sling cares what kind of shooting hardware is attached.

Check out the Luma Cinch strap.  The guy who designed it is up front about it being based on the Blue Force Gear sling that he uses on his AR.

I normally use a wrist strap rather than a sling, but when I feel like I need a sling I just grab a single point rifle sling and clip it onto the wrist strap.

I use a Carry Speed FS Slim. Love it, no issues carrying around a 70-200 f/2.8 all day long.

Black Rapid makes a few nice ones as well, but I think the CS is better quality for the money.
