Camping as we speak. Woke up and lights and refrigerator aren't working. Outlets and air conditioning are working. Breakers are ok.

Many camper lights are 12v and run on the deep cycle or a converter full time.  Start checking the 12v system

Maybe a squirrel chewed a wire?  Had it happen several times.

Check your covnverter, fuse.

that is what runs your 12v and charges your house batteries

What kind of camper?

This.  Sounds like you have a problem with your 12v system, but the 120-volt system is ok.

Could it be a grounding issue?

It could be a ground if youre lucky.

ETA- I always check my grounds after fuses, breakers and what not.  Sometimes they just need cleaned up with a wire brush (I've used rocks in a pinch) or just tightened a little.  It's usually a lot more simple than pulling paneling and furniture.

Is this an RV, 5th wheel, or a smaller tow behind?

Our fridge runs off the AC system. Not for sure if they all do though.

How old is the camper?  Is there a ground fault breaker on one of the power outlets?

This summer the heating element in my RV fridge went bad.  Would run fine on propane, but switch to AC would immediately pop the ground fault breaker on the power outlet. Which also took out the lights and rest of the power outlets.

Do you actually have 120 coming in..

Ours does as well, unless it's on gas then it uses the 12v system.

If OP is using AC for the fridge check the AC plug. Ours had vibrated out a bit on one time and the fridge would not come on, had to use gas until I got smart and checked the plug. Not sure what the lights have to do with that though. The converter would be running them. Check for separate breaker for lights and fridge.

How long did it take to figure that one out?

He asked if it could be a ground issue; I doubt he knows the answer to this.

OP, if you don't know, what is the year, make and model of your camper?  I can probably find or get a wiring diagram to point you in the right direction.

Do you have basic tools with you?

Didn't take too long.  Was prepping the camper for a trip had everything but the fridge was on. About 15 seconds of turning the fridge on AC I hear "pop" from the outlet behind me. Reset, popped again. Turned fridge off, reset, and breaker stayed closed.  Turned fridge to propane and breaker stayed closed.

So camped that weekend on propane since it really don't take much to run the fridge on it.  I wasn't positive it was the heating element but assumed it had to be since that is the only part that runs on AC. The control panel of dual fuel RV fridges always run on 12v.  New heat element should run about $35 - 50 on Amazon about an hour or two of work to replace if you're semi-handy.

Start your check on the 12vdc side.  That's where your issue is.

Yep...  you mentioned the breakers are fine (which is the 120v) but not the fuses.  Did you check those?

Mine runs on 12V, 120V or propane and has a selector switch to set which one.

OP has 120v power but his 12v system is down. After resetting all the breakers, I'd check the converter. I'd also test the battery.

Might be the inverter. Was probably running off battery for the last couple days. I put jumper cables from truck to camper battery and all is good. I'll just have to keep charging camper periodically for now.

Yeah, you have to keep the battery topped off, but the inverter should do that when you're hooked to shore power.

You might also look into a solar cell or two as a method of keeping your battery topped off when dry-camping.
