This is something I have noticed. I list a car and don't boost the listing...I'll get let's say 10 messages....8 are legit, and ask questions 2 are people asking "hey is this item available" then nothing. When I boost a post, It's the opposite...almost all the messages are "is this item available" then no more messages after I reply. I have a suspicion that FB is paying people in my area to just reply to boosted posts to make it seem like your boost money is worth it. Anybody seen this shit before? |

Sounds like FB bots. I hate FB Marketplace, their search function has gotten worse since they created it. I've been looking for a queen size bedroom set and it pulls up all kind of shit and listings outside the search radius that I set. Then can't tell how it's really sorted. Plus it tracks what you look at so it pushes everything similar to you after that whether you want it or not. CL went down hill after FB started, but atleast CL search function works. |

I have 14 hens in my coop and decided I could use a rooster. I found a Golden Maran on FB so I contacted the person, drove down gave her $10 she was asking for the rooster. We got to talking, she said she'd been ghosted 6 times when people said they were going to come by and never did, all within the previous three days. If that's typical of FB transactions, I wouldn't put anything on it. |

I posted a tractor for $4000 and no messages for a week. Then one morning I got, no shit like 3 messages from serious buyers in a 10 minute span and it was sold within 2 hours. This has happened a few times. I don't know if the add hits a magic numbers of saves or looks then it goes viral as a suggestion for others but it works when it happens. |

Ive wondered about stuff like that too. No messages for a couple weeks and then it blows up. Case in point, I listed two 6’x8”x8” pine beams a couple months ago and not a peep and then I sold both of them in the last two days. Oddly enough stuff seems to go in waves too though. I’ll get a stretch where it seems like a dozen people are looking for TV stands and we will sell out, then I’ll slowly build up a stockpile of them until I start getting annoyed at the amount we have in the shop and then boom they start selling again. Same with dressers and beds. |
| I don’t use fb, but i sell a lot on offer up, the “is this available” happens often, it’s a pre written response that’s is easy to accidentally send if your looking at an ad, I just reply yes it is, 90% of the time no response or or was an accident, sometimes it’s a serious buyer and we make a deal. |

I know “Is it still available” is one of the auto responses people can click, and it seems like a lot of people manage to do it repeatedly on accident. My father was a habitual offender, he’d always get pissed that people would message him about their junk and it never really clicked on him as to why. |
