I am filling out the C&R application and I had a couple of procedural questions:

1. On the application, there is a spot on the back next to where you sign and date it that has a spot called "Title". What do you put in there, just Mr/Mrs/etc? Or something else?

2. I have an apartment at school that I live at part of the year, but maintain my home address as my permanent address (which is in another town and county). Is it okay to have the home address as the official residence on file with the BATF and have the firearms sent to another address (ie my apartment?)

3. Is it okay to store the C&R firearms at my apartment instead of at the permanent address listed on the application?

4. When ordering C&R firearms from a place like AIM or J&G, do you usually need to sign for the item when it arrives, or are the packages usually just dropped off? If you do need to sign, can anyone at the residence sign for it, especially if they are on the section of the application listed as 'responsible persons'?

Thanks for the help!

To the best of my recollection:

1. for the title just put "collector" - it's not really important for the C&R application.

2. No.  The address you put on the application is printed on the actual FFL that you send out to stores, and that address is the only one they can ship to.

3. Once you get the firearms, you can store them where ever you want, the license is just to receive them.

4. I would think that anyone that ships a firearm would require an adult signature, but it would not have to be a specific person.  However, I have occasionally arrived home to find a package waiting on my doorstep with a handgun inside.

It's over in the The Armory section.

ATF told me to put “Owner” in that box.  I don’t think it’s terrible critical, though.

They have a help phone number on their website for their licensing branch if something truly baffles you.

I guess you know about the other required form dealing with citizenship.

I think UPS requires an “adult signature” for firearms, which can be any adult.

I think UPS also has a different category of “addressee only”, where only the specific addressee can sign for it (However, I might be confusing them with Fed Ex).

FWIW - I don’t know if it’s true, but I was told by a dealer that ATF will process your application quicker if you send a money order rather than a personal check.
