My dad used to keep a large box in the trunk of his car in case it broke down while on the road.
Upper and lower radiator hoses, 2 gallons of coolant, accessory and drive belts, fuses, safety wire, duct tape, test light, and a full bag of tools. I don't think all that is necessary with today's cars. I have a cell phone. What do you carry in your car for on the road repairs? Edit to add: Not stuff you would put in a BOB. Expressly for car repairs. |

Jumper cables
22 pc wrench set 10ish screw driver of misc size small 3/8 ratchet set with metric and standard small hammer utility knife dozenish hose clamps of various sizes electrical tapt duct tape wire strippers channel locks scissors adjustable wrench neddle nose about 10 flares flashlight 2k lbs tow strap Multi meter cheap 12 volt air compressor for filling tires in emergency And my AAA card with cell phone Most of the stuff I end up using elsewhere, but it is really nice having tools when they are needed. This is just the bag that stays in my DD, my wifes car has a smaller bag as well. |

Cell phone and a credit card. This. I tried keeping tools and spare parts with me, but invariably there would be one thing I'd need that I would never have with me. So fuck it. I know most every towing service in town through work, and I'm in good with dealers and shops around here. If I break down, I won't be on the side of the road for long. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I usually just carry basic stuff like fuses, tow strap, plug kit, tape small amount of sockets and a few things. This is for driving around town and the occasional trip into the mountains.
For wheeling and getting far away from civilization I will bring a lot more. Key is to do the work in the garage at home so you dont have to do the work on the side of a highway or on a 4x4 trail with dusk approaching. |
