I have not kept up with recent literature on this.  Would one be "misappropriating" oxygen and nutrients by doing cardio after an upper body workout?

No. I do some form of cardio after all my lifting sessions, including legs.

I wouldn't worry about it. Hell, today I actually did the opposite.

Went for a 2 mile jog (granted, snails pass me at my usual jogging pace), then hit the gym and had a productive deadlift and arm day.

I think as long as you're meeting your nutritional needs, you'll be fine. Though it may not be truly "optimal," for those of us who aren't professional bodybuilders or elite athletes, I think it's a matter of splitting hairs. What really matters is having the discipline to get the workouts in religiously, and eat right.
